Check your math.  That should come out to $0.33 per GB, not $3.06.  That would put it well above the price per GB of MLC SSD.

I thought they should have had double the flash size on the original drive.  Also, ditch the SLC and go with MLC.  The flash is probably going to long outlast the platters.  It would be interesting to see what testing they've done to determine that SLC is neccesary for this.

$3 per gig?  your math is very wrong lol.  that would put the 750GB drive at $2250.  its more like 33 cents per gig.
