Script Kiddies Hijack @USAToday, Encourage Tweeters To Vote For Next Victim
With Anonymous and LulzSec being a bit on the quiet side recently – maybe because the law is breathing down their necks? – you knew it was only a matter of time before some other smart-mouthed organization stepped into the limelight in a quest to annoy us all. Enter the Script Kiddies. This group’s not targeting databases or disfiguring websites; their M.O. is hijacking Twitter accounts and posting dumbass fake stories. Fox News and NBC News have already fallen victim to their idiocy – now add USA Today to the list. This hijacking spread promotional material rather than FUD, however.
The group got two quick tweets off on @USAToday before the publication locked the account down, Graham Cluley at Sophos reports. "Fox News, Wal-mart, Unilevel, Pfizer, NBC and now USA Today. who's next? Vote now! [LINK]" and "Please like The Script Kiddies on Facebook! You could choose our next target!"
The tweets being issued by the group lead one to believe that it very well may be attention-seeking kiddies manning the helm, but we’re willing to bet that NBC, Fox and USA Today are nevertheless pushing authorities to find the perps and throw them in the juvey slam. If nothing else, the Script Kiddies’ antics remind us all to create hard passwords – yeah, we’re looking at you – and avoid clicking on attachments from unknown senders.

Maybe its just me but i could care less if those organizations got their twitter hacked. Im sorry but "pushing authorities to find the perps and throw them in the juvey slam" to me just sounds like "Whaa MOOOMMYYY Johnny took my truck from me at the play ground!"
Its a god damn twitter account for fucks sake. Ive always thought that corporations put way to much emphasis on that kind of shit to begin with. Some how i JUST get the feel that if me and 3 of my closest friends got our twitter account(no i dont have one) hacked that the "authorities" would give a shit and a half less. No, what normally happens is you contact the provider and have them reset the PW. Thats about it. But im supposed to expect what now? The FBI and the CIA put all there best men on this case imidiatly? Gimme a fucking break already.
AFAIC is the news networks getting the special attention here, not the hacking group.
Dont the police have BETTER shit to do than to police our idiot fucking twitter accounts?

If you want the authorities go go after whomever hacked your twitter account , you will need lots of money to grease the palms of said authorities & polititions, just like all the big corporations. Welcome to the corporate world.

You're not a major news outlet. And if you did have a twitter account, what you post won't spread like wildfire and make everyone freak out. That's the one major difference between one of these news outfits, and "Billy-Bob from Arkensa".
Spreading of misinformation, some of which can be very harmful.

Lets be hoenst here. These "Script Kiddies" did nothing but guess some weak passwords. These twitter "hacks" have happened before. If it is possible to guess, is it any supprise that it happened at all? I agree that what was posted in their accounts could be harmful, but whos fault is it really?
I find it hard to believe they knew what computers were used to access all these counts and managed to compramise them all at the same time.

The Script Kiddies huh? I kind of like how in the age of information and technology the main pain in the butt is kids with too much knowledge. Although, people are annoyed and pissed off because of these kids, I on the other hand find enjoyment out of it. Instead of learning how to make crack and C4 like we did in our days they are learning technology. It gives me hope on how capable these kids will be when it is their turn to take the torch.

Dumbass stories? How do you qualify "dumbass". Relatively speaking, what can be worse than the misinformation that Fox News pushes out on a daily basis?

If you want to examples. Just watch a skit that The Daily show with Jon Steward did. And I can tell you, it's really really long list. Hey, I have no problem conservatives having talk shows on Fox as MSNBC has talk shows for liberals, but don't call it "News". Call it what it really is, just a talk show.

Look no further than their trademarked slogan "fair and balanced" news. There's a clear conservative agenda and while they don't oughtright lie (cause you know, that would be fraud, uhh duh), there's so much that their goombas take out of context, I stopped keeping track.
When Hannity says Obama fails at this or Obama fails at that, he knows darn well that Obama can't undo the capitalist mechanism at work. For your own education, google "fractional reserve lending" or "flash crash" or "two santa clause theory". If you don't understand how these "phenomina" are caused by human beings, consider yourself fortunate.
My point, while I wasn't making it so clear, is that I feel pretty bad for anyone who considers NBC, CBS, Fox etc as a valid source for news. We're in an age where people take something they hear online or on the "news" and don't think twice before they go and repeat it as fact. They don't even question the source. You are blind if you do not realize that. Saddly, facebook has more credability than Fox in my opinion.
Brad- aww you don't want to at least play devil's advocate :)

The Script Kiddies hijacked NBC News account and said Ground Zero was being attacked 2 days before the 10th anniversary of 9/11. That = dumbass. And that's just one example. I'm not going to touch the Fox News barb -- that there's flame bait talk :-)

Oh, no worries. I wasn't actually even replying to you -- I meant to reply to the OP, but clicked the wrong link, apparently.
