Sans Digital Upgrades 32-bit NAS Boxes to 64-bit
Sans Digital, a provider of high capacity, multi-functional advanced storage solutions, introduced (PDF) a new series of 64-bit based NAS products on Monday. This represents the company's first foray into 64-bit NAS boxes, whereas previous iterations were all 32-bit. THe new models include a pair of 4-bay towers and a bunch of rackmount models from 1U 4-bay to 8U 50-bay systems. All systems come with Intel inside and simultaneous support for iSCSI and NAS.
In addition to making the jump to 64-bit, Sans Digital says it revamped the Graphical User Interface (GUI) with pull-down menus to simplify the configuration process. Even first-time users of the new NAS interface will find it easy to navigate, even without prior knowledge of the Linux NAS OS, the company claims.
"The new easy-to-use interface combined with its exceptional performance makes these new 64-bit NAS / iSCSI systems extremely easy to manage as a unified storage system," said Stanley Chan, Director of Business Development of Sans Digital. "With the broad range of supported options paired with its naturally high capabilities in terms of transfer speed and storage space, this is the ideal solution for large and small enterprises alike."
All models come configured with 2 or more NIC ports and support network teaming for redundancy and increased data throughput. Users will also find support for VMWare ESX, Micrsoft Hyper-V, and Citrix Xen virtual machines servers, Windows 3008 Clustering, and SPC-3 persistent targeting.
The new systems are available now and range in price from $600 to $15,000.
