Samsung Sets Goal to Ship 2 Million 3D TVs in 2010
Samsung is pretty confident that this whole 3D craze is much more than just a temporary phase. So much so that the electronics maker is absolutely certain it will reach its goal of selling two million 3D LCD TVs around the world in 2010, and probably more, according to Samsung Taiwan president Smile Kim.
Kim says his company is planning to launch 46-inch and 55-inch 3D LED-backlit models in the Taiwan market next month for about $4,100 and $5,950, respectively. Both models will include two pairs of of 3D glasses and free 3D movies, though Kim didn't say how many.
Kim also talked up the overall specifications of Samsung's 3D LED TVs, including high contrast ratios, energy savings up to 50 percent, Internet access, and connectivity options to other electronics, such as handsets, notebooks, and more.
Those of you waiting for prices to come down will have to be patient. Kim added that Samsung typically drops prices of its products no more than twice, and that the company's LED-backlit TVs won't see much change in 2010.

How many conusmers actually HAVE a 3D setup in their living room? Zero, as far as I know.. And the manufacturers expect 20% of TV owners to switch to 3D this year? Boy, now there is a disconnect if I ever saw one.

These funky glasses still too funny to me. I'll probably stick with my good ol' 42" lcd tv crap. And wait for something laser-tv based, plasmas sucking hungs and power. Green frikkin power.

I tired the in-store demo of the Samsung 3dTV at Future Shop the other day and it was pretty flickeriffic. I don't know if they had it setup wrong or what...but it was nauseating experience. I had no problem with 3D in theaters, but this was just nasty. And the glasses are about as nice as the freebies you get at the theater, really cheap feeling, plus the only movie out is Monsters vs. Aliens that come with the glasses. I hope future models are better than this.

So Panasonic wants to sell 1 million, Samsung 2 million.
Yeah right, like that will happen without anything worth watching in 3D (Other than Avatar).

Should make watching the evening news interesting and just imagine watching the pres spread Washington BS in 3D during any number of his canned speeches and State of the Union address in 3D just makes me want to sleep.
The kids watching Elmo and Barny in 3D just makes me want to puke.
I can only imagine that good movies like Star Wars and the STAR TREK movies would be awesome. To tell you guys the truth when the news is on I usually browse the web and listen to the news and only sneak a peak at the TV when I hear something interesting.

I have the feeling that 3D games and tv is a gimmick just like motion controls (ie. Wii). I think that Natal will flop, if it ever comes out; 3D stuff is still glitchy and unprofessional, even after it's been around this long, and 3D news? dumb.
