Samsung Outs More Series 9 Models, MacBook Air Seen Cowering in a Corner
Samsung today added five new models to its Series 9 line of ultra-thin laptops, and no one can accuse the company of bringing a knife to a gun fight. Certainly not Apple, whose MacBook Air is still slinging Intel's Core 2 Duo weaponry, at least until the upcoming refresh. In the meantime, the new Series 9 models roll into the war zone armed with Core i3, i5, and i7 canons, mighty big weapons given their stature.
There are three new 13.3-inch and two new 11.6-inch Series 9 models, the latter of which will begin shipping in August. Available right away are the NP900X3A-B01US (1.6GHz Core i5 2467M, 4GB of RAM, 128GB SSD) for $1,349, NP900X3A-B02US (1.6GHz Core i5 2467M, 4GB of RAM, 256GB SSD) for $1,649, and NP900X3A-A05US (1.6GHz Core i7 2617M, 6GB of RAM, 256GB SSD) for $2,049.
The 11.6-inch models will consist of the NP900X1B-A02US (1.3GHz Core i3 2357M, 2GB of RAM, 64GB SSD) for $1,049 and NP900X1B-A01US (1.3GHz Core i3, 4GB of RAM, 128GB SSD) for $1,249.
All five models sport an LED-backlit display with a 1366x768 resolution, brushed aluminum chassis, USB 3.0, Windows 7 Home Premium, and FastStart technology.

The graphics are all Intel HD 3000. For the Sandy-bridge processors, the GPU is part of the processor. Top speeds for the graphics are 1.3GHz (Core i7-2620M) down to 950MHz (Core i3-2357M).

Give me a 1200 x 1080/1200p screen with a long-lasting battery and I'll gladly snatch one up for traveling. :P

Um, you mean 1920X1200 right? That would be the so called 1200P and the 1920X1080 is the provervial 1080P that everyone in the know want and require.

Japanese people find mouthwatering sex appeal in names like NP900X3A-B01US, NP900X3A-B02US, NP900X3A-A05US, NP900X1B-A02US and NP900X1B-A01US. The more X-s and Z-s they can shove into their names the better; it is more impressive that way. And a bit of S-s and R-s usually acts as a cherry on top. They are fascinated by alpha numerical code letterings. Italians usually name things after locations, animals and relatives; like Modena, Countach, DeTomaso Pantera, etc. The Germans like simple classifications like S600, M3 and A8. But the Japanese stick to their deciphering code books; GSX-R, NSX-R, and now the unforgettable NP900X1B-A02US. Japanease products does not become icons because icons need to be simple.

Nice one Captain Ignorance. For the record Japanese cars are infinitely more reliable than their German I-would-only-lease-if-I-were-you counterparts.

Sure, Very Siberian. No one is arguing that the MacBook Air is a great computer for surfing the internet! No one would argue that ever!

Thanks for the announcement, but the headline is foolish. The MacBook Air is sure as hell not cowering in a corner! It is the greatest computer I have ever used in my life. Your oversimplication is based only on the processor. A computer cannot be reduced solely to its CPU. Given the RAM, graphics, solid state drive, and world-class OS, the MacBook Air runs like a symphony with intravenous caffeine.
