SaDOS: Portal 2 Delayed Again
Valve may be able to control the space half of the space-time continuum, but it looks like the “time” bit is still giving the developer some trouble. Portal 2 – originally slated to short circuit gamers' brains in February – has now been pushed into the far reaches of April, specifically April 20. But hey, it's not all bad. Why? Here's Valve's take:
“This two month slip not only marks the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of delays, it represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time. Though this convergence spells doom for humanity, it will not affect the new Portal 2 release date,” the developer said in an announcement.
Ok, we admit that the “doom for humanity” part sounds bad, but here's the thing: If Valve's track record with Half-Life 2: Episode 3 is any indication, the fiery and assuredly painful End won't come during our lifetimes. Hell, even our children's children probably won't have much reason to worry, although they'll probably be too busy dealing with tyrannical squid emperors and Apple's establishment of the iDeathStar (It forces everyone in the universe to use AT&T wireless! And destroys planets too, we guess) to lose any sleep over it.

That has got to be the best quote from any software company explaining a product delay ever! Just further proof that Valve is a great company.

i wish they would just focus on one game at a time instead of..what? 3 games(portal 2, dota 2 and hl3 and whatever other things)so they can finish in less time.

What about Blizzard and Diablo III ? How long have we been waiting for that one...it got pushed back almost a year and still no exact release date...lol. When Blizzard was asked about it's release, they promptly said the following, "When its ready...period." Good games take time, we just have to hope that the wait is worth the hype.

Blizzard has never given a release date for any game. Diablo III has never had a release date. If you are going off what gamestop says of november 11th or whatever, then you are just another part of the whole crowd that believes games should be released on dates not set by Blizzard themselves. These companys put out release dates, because it allows them to take preorders right away, rather than wait for the game to get an official release date.

I never said they had a release date for Diablo III...they (Blizzard) did say in mid 2009, however, that they hoped to have it ready by 2010. When pushed for more info in late 2009, Blizzard stated what I said above. Who gets their release dates from gamestop any ways?!? lol.

I'd rather it be delayed and be a valve game than it came out too early and not be a signiture valve game. Sure valve may delay EVERYTHING, but their track record is so amazing that it's worth however long we have to wait.

You know, I should expect this by now. But nope. My irrational hope still lives. (sigh)

OMG Valve has to to be slowest fucking game development company... they make good games but come on! HL2 Ep2 came out, what, like 4 years ago? And we don't even have a screenshot of hl2 ep3/hl3 yet!

Valve is in a situation where they don't even HAVE to make games. I bet half the team doesn't even come in most Mondays.
