It only took billionaire publishing mogul Rupert Murdoch about 48 hours on Twitter to enrage an entire nation all over again. in the wake of last year’s UK phone hacking scandal that resulted in News of the World being shut down, Murdoch suggested in a tweet that the British have too many holidays for a “broke country.” Oh, snap.
Despite immediate urging from an account that seems to belong to Murdoch’s wife, the tweet was alive long enough to be retweeted and re-posted everywhere. “Maybe Brits have too many holidays for broke country!” the tweet read before deletion. The 80 year-old Murdoch was on vacation in the Caribbean when he posted the tweet.
The Murdoch account was almost immediately verified upon creation, perhaps with the recognition that whatever the News Corp CEO said was going to be gold. We were not let down. Murdoch tried to play the posting off as a joke, but at the very least it was in poor taste.

Carlidan, I would first point out the state I live in, Illinois, fiscal disaster, see California and New York as well. All run by democrats for decades and the three worst financial situations by far in the country. Conservative states that are doing well, Alaska, Texas, Wyoming, Oregon to name a few. The country’s you site, Germany, really… Germany is the most conservative Country in the European Union and the one that has to step up and bail out the most liberal of them all Greece. Have you picked up a paper lately? Also see France, Ireland and England, liberal and on the brink of disaster. Next Canada, yea they are doing better since the big push to drill. Just hope you’re not a resident there over fifty and in need of a knee replacement. I have bad news for you, Japan is conservative. China, really, you’re going to use them as an example of a liberal utopia? Next, I don’t know how old you are but I’m just going to assume you remember the 2004 election when a-holes like Alec Baldwin (like how he talks to his 12 year old daughter), Sean Penn, Susan Surandon, Michael Moore, etc. just outright insulting anyone who voted for Bush or was thinking about it again. That was motivation my friend, and it brought conservatives out in droves to the polls. Mark my words Carlidan, when Obama breaks out his billion dollar smear campaign this year, because he sure won’t be able to run on hope and change again, conservative’s will be reenergized once again. Oh, and where do you think Obama is going to get that Billion dollars from, the 99% mostly right? Look, I’m not one of these blanket haters; I think Obama has done some good things. I also think this country needs more than one strong point of view for balance, but I don’t like being insulted just because I may disagree. And since you asked I do have a REAL full-time job, I am a card carrying blue-collar union member (private sector) and I have a business on the side that gets 15 to 20 hrs. a week of my time. So yea, I’m productive and I don’t have time to troll the internet and insult people I don’t agree with.

What I don't get is your doing the same thing with your comment. You insulted him back, what's the difference between him and you? You say you don't have time, yet you had time insult him. You kidding me Wyomming? Alaska and Texas aren't doing great. Doing better than most states. Yes. But that's becase they rely alot from the federal goverment for funds. Got to love the military instutions there. California is doing bad is because people here want to build things like solor power, super speed trains, schools etc.. but don't want to pay for it. They just keep shuffle money around and don't want a tax increase to pay for them. I like how you like your union(private) but is probably against public(union). Reason why. Don't know. Glad you have a businiess and doing well but saying you and only you have a REAL job makes you a douche. Everybody have a REAL job. As long as you make money, it's a JOB. They way you put it. You think a person who picks fruits or works at McDonalds don't have a real job but a hedge fund or CEO has real job.
Just FYI Germany is more socialist than England and France. So wouldn't that mean it's more liberal? People in Germany rely more in goverment than the rest of the other euro countries you mentioned. I could send you info to back it up if you want me to.
Also the reason Canada is doing well is BECAUSE they have better economic struture than us. You think just because they drill there, that's why they are doing so great. And I love the lies about Candian healtcare. Ask any Candian, THEY will tell you your just BSing. We have the worst healthcare system on average compared to other nations. You know where we are ranked right? Last I checked, we are ranked 39. You might think that great.

Carlidan, first off yes, I did insult him back, but I’m not calling him stupid or invalidating his existence because I don’t agree with him. I just think he’s a tool. Yes I used the wrong adjective when I used the word “REAL”. You are correct; any job that earns a pay check is REAL. I have respect for anyone who earns an honest living regardless of what that may be. I have been a busboy, grocery bagger and what I support my family with now is nothing world changing so I am in no position to bash someone for what they do for a living nor did I. I should not have used an adjective and just said Job, because he comes across to me as a privileged punk who has never worked an honest day in his life. Sure I could be wrong about that but it really doesn’t matter, he was calling the other opinion stupid and invalid because he doesn’t agree with it and that’s why I don’t like him. I only point out that my union pension is private and not crushing my state with debt like the public unions are. I also am not saying those people don’t deserve pensions, so please don’t put more words in my mouth then bash me for them. If you want to make excuses for the politicians (democrats and or republicans they all suck) putting back breaking debt on its people well, I’m not sure what to think. I know here in Illinois they just doubled our income tax and we still are in horrible shape. This is BS, they are spending money the state doesn’t have, period. Look we could go back and forth about politics but why? I bet if we sat down we would agree on more than we disagree on anyway. Lastly, you are damn near as good at pointing out my hypocrisy as my wife is, I’m going to have to work on hiding that a little better. Now let’s get back to our tech addiction shall we…

Um. We're talking about Rupert Murdoch. If you could label one person as THE MEDIA, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who would better suite the title. I don't know him personally, but I would wager I "prolly" know a hell of a lot more about him than you do. I think what his newspapers did in the UK was criminal, and the type of journalism most of his empire practices is immoral at best, and evil at worst.
As for how we should just become part of the 1%, well, if we go by statistics, that would only be possible for 1 out of every 100 people who read this. What should the rest of us do?
Hating on people because they're rich IS stupid. I agree totally, and dislike that attitude.

You need to do some research my friend. Most of the 1% are hedge fund managers and lawyers. If you think making money in those professions constitutes "earning" then I beg you to try and eat legal papers or dollar bills.

I somehow doubt that the country is broke because of holidays the average person takes.
This is an incredibly powerful rich man, and he's telling the people that they take too many holidays, implying the economic problems are their fault?

He's obviously confused and thinks forces like global economics actually applies to European countries when all he has to do is shuffle around a few billions and any country can take all of the holidays they want without any financial repercussions.
