fuck the teachers unions. Its pretty obvious schools suck ass in this country. So fuckem. In fact, fuck unions in general. They should be outlawed.

There's a reason most people don't let their crazy old uncles have Twitter accounts.

Rupert Murdoch has a God Complex.

The sooner he drops dead, the better off humanity will be.

May his 'empire' collapse on his passing.

And as far as I'm concerned, Murdoch using Twitter is not Maximum PC caliber news.

Agreed. But posting a story about him will bring out all sorts of defenders and attackers. Pretty good for pageviews, I imagine.

Murdoch is just an ass...  The 1% (as apposed to the 99% group) jerk feels as if the world revolves around him and he should get his way.  Why is it that billionaires act more like whiny babies than toddlers do?  He blasts anyone who apposes SOPA because his company is one of the big media companies who like to hand out lawsuits to ip addresses that pirate their content and if SOPA were to pass (when it's back on the table) that would give him and his company free rein to do whatever he wants.  Piracy lawsuits are becoming a very lucrative business.  Just look at many of the tech companies that produce NO products but hold patents and just licence them or sues someone.  It's almost a free income.  Why would this be any different?!  If someone were to download a movie that would normally cost $20 at your local retailer they can say either pay us $2k or we will sue you.  They just got $2k for one copy of a movie.

Now he is against restructuring the teachers unions.  This guy is obviously against changes that would HELP our country.  Teachers should be held to a higher standard.  It's frustrating to see lazy teachers who are tenured but don't even have to teach.  There are teachers who come to work and just play cards all day because they can't be fired.  Now do I think a teachers rating should be based on the students scores as the Bush administration wanted?  Of course not!  You can't rate a teacher in such a fassion because how are they suppose to control forces which are not in their control?!  There should be incentives for good/high performaning teachers while repercussions for those that don't perform at all.

Unions were once a way to improve the standard of living for workers.  Any more they are becoming a way to drive organizations into the ground.  They drive companies that can't meet their demands into brankrupcy and closure resulting in loss of jobs.  My local University is a prime example in which unions are destroying rather than improving.  Many workers (not including teachers) get paid well above the national average and yet still complain and are still lazy.  I saw a janitor/maintenance worker (who gets paid more than the teachers at my old high school do) was in the day room of one of the dorms watching TV.  At first I thought must be on break then he told me he is done with his "daily tasks" and is just waiting till his shift ends to clock out.  "TASKS?!" There are a million things in this dorm alone that need fixed.   Food based fund raisers are next to impossible as you can only sell a SMALL list of items because if you sell anything else this can potentially result in Chartwells sueing the school for lost income.

OK I'll stop ranting...  Just more propaganda that is destroying out country.

I would rather see broken unions fixed then have them wiped out.

Unions are supposed to make agreements with employers so both parties can make money and have nice work experience. I work in a union, and honestly, there are some lazy people. However, the managers are the ones who are really lazy. They don't bother going through the proper process to fire lazy workers, and just blame the union for making it too hard. Total bullshit.

Agreed! I would like to see them fixed as well because they have the potential to be beneficial but the chances are slim. It is frustrating to see the greed with unions asking for the world during negotiations. Then they charge members high fees. If unions could be reorganized and designed around the idea of being a privilage and not a right to promote performance it would greatly improve many issues.

Chances are slim? Not really. I'm part of one, like I said. I get a fair wage, am assured I can't be fired on a whim, and if I'm mistreated, I have someone who will defend me. I get a small amount of dental and health insurance, which is very uncommon to have at all in the industry I work in. The company I work for still makes a lot of money. While I'm sure there are some unions that demand more than they should, in my experience that's not usually the case. Looking at what most CEOs make, the way wealth is divided in the world, and how corporations have been spending their money recently, I think it's safe to say that regular workers are not the ones getting the good end of the deal here. For the average person, having a union fighting to give you the best deal they can get you is a good thing. Don't believe everything you hear.
