Rumor: Toshiba to Launch Glasses-free 3D TVs in 2010
Toshiba plans to put glasses-free 3D TVs into Japanese living rooms very soon, according to Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun. The company is said to be prepping three autostereoscopic 3D TVs with a conveniently wide viewing angle for a late 2010 launch. According to the report, Toshiba's autostereoscopic 3D TVs could cost several thousand dollars.
While a spokesperson for the company declined to comment on the report, she acknowledged that glasses-free 3D was part of its plans. Toshiba had showcased a similar display earlier this year. That particular glasses-free display featured a multi-parallax design. Such an approach allows for a wide viewing angle as images are adjusted depending on the viewer's position.

Since the TV adjusts the picture based on the viewer's position, wonder how it reacts to multiple viewer's at different positions.

Would these displays come head-ache free, or is that just the cost of extended use of all 3D tech?

This is exactly what big companies need to do to push 3D into a mainstream market. This is also why I'm not an early-adopter of 'gimmicky' prodcuts that require a set of 3D-glasses. Nintendo has started a revolution with their new 3DS, and that's only the beginning.
It should have been known at launch-time that no-one with 'average' household income would want to spend $200 / pair on 3D glasses for their families, plus upwards of $3000 for a TV.
