Rumor: Comcast to Offer 100Mb Service Soon
Posted 05/29/09 at 05:00:36 PM by Andy Salisbury

According to the rumor mill, Comcast is going to release a 100Mb service sometime in the not-too-distant future.
Currently, the fastest available service from Comcast is 50/20Mb, and will run consumers roughly $189 per month. There’s no word yet on how much this rumored service will cost, but going from the current model, we can gather that it will be costly.
We’ll be sure to keep our eyes on this as it develops.

Pretty much enjoy my cable connection but not to the tune of $189, guess I just don't need or afford that much speed.

Meanwhile in Europe, you get ADSL between 20 to 25 Mb download for 30 Euros a month...
Rumor, indeed

Hmm, nothing concrete about the 100MB service from my very reliable source. Also the current fastest speed of 50/10 is $140.

I used to have TWC. Now I had to have Comcrap in Ga. TWC moved out of the are just across the SC line.
I rated the DL speed to 20Mb/s and UL at 1.5Mb, many times better than whan I had up nort, but it dosent matter how fast I can DL anything, if the source and path from there to you is slower, what difference does it make how fast you are? Only going as fast as the slowest part in the path. The tech that hooked us up 2 months ago said they would be moving up to the 100Mb, but I konw it would be pointless. Would still DL stuff at just 500KB most of the time as the upload speed of the hosts.

Prices

Like anything else I guess I kind of expect to pay out the nose for the largest, fastest, best service or product that a company offers. On the other hand, once Comcast offers a 100mb service I expect to see the price of their 50mb service drop to a more reasonable level.
lol, I can always dream huh?
faster and more expensive ?

I don't think they even know the price! Everyone I know gets different price quotes from them. After your contract agreement is up, it is standard to call and negotiate on a new price. How does the U.S. government allow this? Why do i have to call them, when my contract is up, or it will go up $200? I'm from Michigan and a good rule of thumb for down speed is to take half of what you pay for. Example, pay for 6mbs, get 3. recently I went to U-verse and i pay for the 10mbs. I get about 8 and I am pretty happy. I just don't know who would pay almost $200 for com-crap, especially with bandwidth caps.

when i use to work for comcast they were like oh here you can have all our services for free, i was like oh here's the middle finger for you for free all the time too, and a bag of dog sh*t thats better then ur services ill stick with who i have. its like id rather pay for something i can use then get something i cant use for free. im glad i dont work for comcast any more, i acually feel bad for people who think com-crap is good, all i have to say is just wait till you get your bill in the mail and its triple what you were told it was gonna be, btw our "service techs" price for sending them out to your house is now 5 bucks more then it was before, use to be 19.99 for a tech to come to your house even if it wasnt your fault now its 24.99 so enjoy btw were taking all your channels away and still charging you the same you were paying before but now your getting less. oh and if you decide to not pay us well consider us turning your services off the minute your bill becomes 2 days late a reminder to give us money, and if you still dont pay our lovely collection department is handed your account and starts hounding you, iv seen accounts get put to collection for meer cents, oh and btw if you want to pay your bill we going to charge you any where from 2-4 dollars depending what area your from, iv had customers who called in saying they paid there bill and cant figure out why there stuffs not on, when i checked there account it turned out to be the agent didn't tell them they still owed 14 cents and thats why there account was still off. but like i said thank god im not working for them shit holes again id rather be taking a pool cue in the rear then work for comcast again

Lmao, Opt-Online has the same amount in the New York area for $99 with no caps. I know what your all going to say - Comcast has more service in the whole country. Doesn't matter, the problem is that Comcast is driven by greed and can careless about the customer.

Submitted by Devo85x on Fri, 05/29/2009 - 2:33pm
These plans are bullcrap, I am supposed to get (from comcast) up to 12mb/s download, the sad thing is I have trouble hitting 1... (shouldn't that mean I should only have to pay 1/12 of what they ask? assholes...) then they limit P2P traffic to 250k/s (so now I should pay 1/48 of what they ask? major assholes...) then they added the 250GB download/upload limit... (i know it's the principle of the thing that I hate) so I will continue to say FUCK COMCAST I HOPE THIS CAUSES THEM TO LOSE BUSINESS!!!
Hmmm....

This might be just me, but I would like to see ping improvements more than bandwidth improvement right now (even though both are needed).
I don't download like crazy, but I do game a lot and nothing is more frustrating than high pings.
