RIM Says "Sorry For The Worldwide Outage!" With $100 In Free Apps
If you’re a Blackberry owner, there’s a good chance you’re a little disgruntled right now. The service outage that swept across the globe last week left scads of emails unread and text messages unreceived until RIM was able to clear the massive backlog of data that was sent to its severs during the downtime. RIM wants to make up for it, though. Founder Mike Lazaridis has already issued a video apology; now, the company’s putting its money where Lazaridis’ mouth was by offering more than $100 of premium apps for free to Blackberry users.
The apps – which span a variety of genres – will be released in four staggered weeks, starting on October 19th. All of the apps will be available for the rest of 2011 before returning to their premium price in 2012, so pick them up while you have the chance. Here’s a list of some of the apps that will hit the low, low price of $0; RIM says there’s “more to come.” Enterprise users will also receive an extra month of tech support service added to their contract.
