Doubtful that the Fab Manufacturer is solely responsible for the poor yields or bad manufacturing. Design flaws can also sink a chip. Too many bends, too tight spacing, or not enough simulator time can cause the whole process to degrade to an unusable product. Don't go blaming GlobalFoundries (with 150 customers and 7 fab plants worldwide) for AMD faults.

shame this,

on the other hand it validates the vision the AMD leaders had in spinning off this unit instead of keeping it in house. real question is - are there any other places AMD can have chips manufactured at - that would get global foundries wanting to get thier QA processes up to par quick
