Redmond Rolls Out Its Fall Lineup of Vista Ultimate Extras

Windows Vista Ultimate users, it's time to check Windows Update for another group of Ultimate Extras, the first new ones since April.
Here's what's new:
- Microsoft Tinker, a new casual game
- Ultimate Extras game sounds from Microsoft Tinker
- Dream Scene Content Pack #4
The total download size for all three is 120.8MB.
Microsoft Tinker, developed for Microsoft by Fuel Industries, puts you in control of an old-school robot that's exploring a miniature world. Move to each level's destination by moving blocks, jumping on elevator buttons, and destroying objects. Along the way, you can also turn switches on and off and collect cog wheels. You can control your journey with the arrow keys on the keyboard, an Xbox 360 controller, or a Windows Media Center remote. You can also record a video of a game level, and while you play, a cool jazz soundtrack keeps your spirits up.
Game sounds from Microsoft Tinker make up the second Ultimate Extra, joining previous audio Ultimate Extras Glass and Pearl.
Dream Scene Content Pack #4 adds three variations on a mountain lake at sunset (see illustration) to previous full-motion wallpaper offerings.

In all honesty, as ripped off as I feel about Ultimate, I'm not really all that sure what I want to see them give me as an extra that isn't a complete overhaul of the OS or the interface. For instance, I hate how you can only choose between the vista style start menu and the Windows 98 style start menu, but no option for the XP style menu exists. Considering how many people love(d) XP, that seems like an oversight

Personally, the Dream Scenes suck. They do not have varients for widescreen monitors, so you either stretch the image, or you get ugly black bars. The resolution on them are pretty low too, so they look pixilated like crazy. They need to get a HD quality version. The game is pretty cool for a few minutes, not much to write home about there. I have not tested the vista sounds yet, but I will.

"They do not have varients for widescreen monitors, so you either stretch the image, or you get ugly black bars."
Or just click "Crop to fit screen" under "How should the picture or video be positioned?" to completely fill your widescreen monitor and not stretch the image.

Looks like the Dreamscenes are the same except one of them has a different color. The robot game sucks. This is an Ultimate Extra?
This is a perk for getting Vista Ultimate? What a rip off. LOL... Anyone that paid the full $400bucks must feel like suckers.
