QNAP Reveals TS 669 Pro Turbo 6-Bay NAS
Posted 01/12/09 at 02:01:43 PM | by Andy Salisbury

QNAP is a company that hasn’t had a release in some time, but it’s clear they weren’t up to nothing. Their latest release, the TS-639 Pro Turbo NAS has had plenty of time spent on it, evident by just how much has been packed under the hood.
What is the TS-639 Pro Turbo NAS, you ask? Well, in short, it’s network storage that packs six bays, a 1.6GHZ Intel CPU, 1GB of DDR RAM, gigabit Ethernet and support for just about every type of RAID under the sun (0/1/5/6/5+spare). Match all that up with built-in iSCSI target service with Thin Provisioning, and you’ve got one heck of a NAS.
Still, there’s no mention yet on pricing or availability.

I agree. A good old fashioned NAS shoot-out is in order. MaxPC, what do you think? Maybe for the next issue?
UPDATE: LOL I just realized the picture they used here says "TS-639 Pro" on the LCD screen when the article is referring to the TS-669.

Actually, the title of the article says "TS-669" while the body says "TS-639"
I wonder if it will do iSCSI

If it does iSCSI, I'm *all over it*.

Can you guys do a comparison of NAS devices please? Maybe pit this against the netgear readynas.

I usually check www.smallnetbuilder.com in the NAS section for benchmarks. Seemed to be one of the better places with that kind of info in one spot.

Sounds interesting. With those stats, it should have good performance. It'll be interesting to see the price and benchmarks on it when it is released.
