PETA: Battefield 3 Turns German Boys Into Sadistic Rat Murderers
Battlefield 3 isn’t The Sims; no matter how you decide on approaching the game, a ton of virtual people are going to die gory virtual deaths. That doesn’t faze the German arm of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, though. No, what really grinds PETA’s gears is a scene in the game in which a rat is stabbed and then tossed into a trashcan, and the organization has written a press release to let the world know of its outrage. OUTRAGE!
The original press release is in German, but a little Google Translation magic lets you get the garbled gist of the announcement.
(BF3) gives players the option to kill a rat with a combat knife in the back in order to then lift it by its tail, then toss it away. Killing virtual animals can have a brutalizing effect on the young male target audience. There have been repeated cases of animal cruelty in Germany, where young people kill animals. Inspiration behind these acts often came from movies and computer games.
So watch out, Battlefield gamers – you might be being programmed to be the animal version of Dexter. PETA doesn’t mention whether or not they think killing hundreds of human enemies might have an even more significant effect on apparently fragile psyche of young German boys, but don’t worry, German moms! Links between video games and violence have been thoroughly debunked by all kinds of super-intelligent, non-biased folks time and time again. Though, come to think of it, we can’t think of a report that studied if virtual rat stabbings led to increased actual rat stabbings…

Time to go hunting. Rifle season just started. I think I'll stop by Jack in the Box too and get a Jumbo Jack on my way out of town. But first, I need to scrape the rabbit I ran over off my driveway.

If you have read Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy, you will see what these PETA people are really like. I date a woman who was from PETA and she was psychotic. She wanted everyone who ever hurt an animal, even by accident, put to death. She would say that if she had a choice between saving a person and an animal, she would pick the animal everytime. She would run up to people with pets and scream at them that animals weren't supposed to be prisoners.

what about modern warfare series? they're always killing dogs. if you get 11 kills in a row in black ops, you sick the dogs on your opponent and they either kill them or die. the campaigns frequently have dogs murdered.

What I don't get...What really chaps my hide is that there's no PETN, People for the Ethical Treatment of Noobs. The first time an enemy player, while playing online, flipped me over and stabbed me in the chest I screamed like a little girl...To all those pro players out there: Be gentle...Maybe a kind word of advice like "Hey Kid. You're doing it wrong."

Sounds like you need to start that movement ASAP for rest of us noobs. Even got a name and everything. But wait..... what about those of us that act like noobs because we just ain't any good at it. It's quite devistating to our self esteem....... there that went away. Time to eat parts of animals and enjoy them emensly. Seasoned to taste.

Ahhhhh PETA, you always find a way to piss me off royally. At this rate, I actually feel more remorse for killing the virtual rat than I would if i had killed the leader of PETA. Cruelty to animals is messed up, hell, i feel bad when i kill a zombie dog sometimes, but this is simply pathetic. I'd say take all of the people who fully support PETA, and i mean fully, like the ones who support all of their whack job arguments (ie: this one), put them in a room with every living thing that isn't human, and let them have a glorious day with their free animals. I'd love to see the look on their faces when these precious loving animals are eating their faces off.

I doubt the BF3 game is causing them to Kill Rats, Probably has more to do with their Grandparents being Mass murderers of humans

I gotta say best part of the game, IT BIT MY FINGER! then I stabed it with a M9 :3 But I love it how they point that out but not the mass killing in the game. A rat has like 3 major functions, Eat, Sleep and reproduce. People Eating Tasty Animals- PETA.

I love killing small rodents. However, I prefer stepping on them and feeling their bones crunch and seeing their guts fly out from under my feet.

Ok, during the game a nuke goes off in Paris, killing probably 100000 people, 200000 cats, 50000 dogs and a million rats. What do they make of that?

First thing I thought of was the airport mission in MW2. So all that was okay with PETA, but killing a rat is bad? So how much time are they spending protesting the companies that make and sell rat poision? These people need to get a life. There is a clear difference between abuse of a household pet and the killing of a nusance animal. No, they are not all equal. There, I said it.

theyre people for the ethical treatment of ANIMALS, not humans. they dont give a good god damn about humans. theyre suing sea world for "enslaving" the orcas, and want constitutional rights for animals. if that lawsuit was won, we would have to cease and desist almost anything to do with animals. we couldnt eat them, test on them, have them as pets, spay or neuter them, et cetera, et cetera. you think the american economy is in the shitter NOW? if that happened, itd be armageddon compared to now.

I stabbed a rat in BF3.....and if a remember correctly it bit me first. Therefor it was a danger to society and I took the saftey and well being of my virtual self and fellow teammates and neutralized the threat.
You're welcome.

True true. You wouldn't want to get the disease that the rat was carrying, would you? Man I loved those "action moments" in BF3. :3
