Pandora Computer/Console Handheld Nearly Completed
Pandora's upcoming handheld gaming console is just about ready for retail, but should you be excited? At least one fan forum member is, who was invited by the company to test out a pre-production model and was so impressed that he "considered stealing it."
In a video demo posted to YouTube, one of the developers shows off the handheld's nub controls, which he uses manipulate Mario in Mario 64 through emulation software. The nubs are essentially a pair of low profile thumbsticks, and will probably be a welcome addition to handheld gaming.
Some of the other features a keyboard, touchscreen, a TV-Out port, and plenty more. In short, it's real, it looks pretty awesome, and it's coming soon.

I think the new phones in the market are better. But it is always confusing to buy one or the other.

It might not be perfect, but it kicks the crap out of the DS, probably the PSP and definitely the iphone (because Apple sucks - especially their phones). Regarding the whole nubs debate below...who wants to play an FPS on a 4-inch screen anyway?

and I want to play all sorts of games on it, do my work on it, write programs on it, at the beach, in the park, loving the 10+ hours battery life... Pocket computers are the best and this one is by far the best of the best. Any proprietary / closed thing like PSP or iPhone or n900 is unattractive for me, as I wouldn't have control over it, can't properly hack it or run my own programs / random open-source programs on it. Pandora runs GNU/Linux and the X window system, it can run at least tens of thousands of open source programs including those in the Debian/ARM distribution and many others. It can run the same web browsers, office suites, games, compilers etc that I use on my PC. It is the most awesome device I have ever heard of. It doesn't include a mobile phone so I won't get bothered every ten minutes with people calling me or SMS spam, and I won't microwave my 'nads if it put it in my pocket (iPhone sterility). I won't risk spending hundreds of dollars a month making super-over-priced calls. I can plug a mobile internet thingy into the USB port when I want to. PANDORA == 100% perfect awesome and brilliant :) now I just hope they hurry up, build them and ship me one!

@atomicthumbs
This uses a PowerVR SGX530 and the iPhone a SGX535 which is twice as powerful.

Agreed the iphone does have the edge there... Its a shame the iphone is twice the price, half the screen res. has no gaming controls (unless you like wiping your greasy fingers all over the screen your trying to see and you also like to guess what your pressing cos there is no button feeling on a flat screen). I bet the batteries dont last half as long while your gaming either... I dont deny its the best phone around with some interesting apps, good games too (a friend of mine coded `Must Eat Birds` and appeared on the gadget show on channel5 (UK) but your not comparing eggs with eggs.
Power is nothing without control !

The iPhone has a 480x320 display, Pandora has 800x480, that's 2.5 times as many pixels peeps!
The Pandora's graphics chip is fast enough to render complex games at 800x480 with high framerates, and plenty pixels means you can view web pages in Firefox without having them all crushed / wrapped / distorted / unreadable.
The only problem, I wouldn't really recommend Pandora for someone with less that perfect eyesight, those pixels are going to be pretty small! Well, I guess fonts can be enlarged for them.

the guy traveled 500km out of his way to see the little computer and loved it, a photo of that has got to be better than some shiny marketing shot!

In my opinion it'll be far more desirable than the hand held emulator devices available on ThinkGeek.com. I'm hopeful it will be significantly cheaper than the latest PlayStation Portable. Because it's catering to the open source community, you know it's going to end up being very versatile with all kinds of cool (and free) apps written for it. I'd rather have a Pandora than any IPod or PSP.
Now if they'd just plan ahead and at least /try/ to support ridiculously large SD cards (128+ GB)... d :

That is the dumbest looking thing I've ever seen in my life.
It looks like one of those fake 'devices' you can buy at a 7-11 that have candy inside of them.

You're kidding me right? Have you watched any of the videos of what the Pandora can do? Obviously not. This has been in development for over a year now so that it will be very high quality. Actually do some research on stuff before you let everyone know your uneducated opinion on it.

I'll repeat: It is the dumbest looking device I've ever seen. No need to do research to form that opinion because, well, there is a picture of it.
(I know, let it soak in, its a hard concept to learn)
I don't give a shit about what it can do.
