Overcompensate with G.Skill's Ridiculously Large 24GB DDR3 Memory Kit
Which would you rather have, speed or capacity? If you answered either one, go ahead and deduct 200 geek points, because you should have pounded your chest and emphatically yelled, "Both!"
That's exactly what G.Skill's doing, who just launched a monster sized 24GB kit of RAM rated for 2,000MHz. G.Skill's triple-channel kit will fill all six DIMM slots in your motherboard with 4GB sticks, each one aggressively timed to 8-10-8-25, 1T.
"G.Skill previously demonstrated 24GB of DDR3 at 2,000MHz CL9 during Computex 2010 earlier this month, but has again managed to push the boundaries," G.Skill said in a statement. "This super capacity kit has already attracted a large number of extreme gamers and professional users who expect higher memory capacity can improve their PC performance. G.Skill has successfully provided 24GB (4GBx6) at 2,000MHz CL8 to another high-end boundary, making it the absolute ultimate choice for the extreme users."
That's marketing speak for a series of chest pounds and Tim Taylor-like grunts.
No word yet on price or availability, but for reference, Newegg currently sells a G.Skill 24GB DDR3-1600 kit for $1,150.

Why didn't they have cool shit like this when I was younger and why are younger people that would buy this on Xbox's and Playstation 3's?
Seriously though, looks great for an enthusiast, or a rich kid with more money than he should have, or overcompansating Red sports car drivers. The enthusiast remark is serious, delete the rest.
I bet this will make Half Life, HL Opposing Force, and Blue Shift run smooth.

This is soooo overkill for any gamers looking for a performance increase. Nowadays when you have 4gb of ddr3, stepping up to 8gb ddr3 etc makes little/no difference in your fps. However, I'm sure video encoding and photoshop-y tasks would be perfect for such a huge amount.

Holy crap, 24GB. Maybe I'm not as hardcore (or rich) as the rest of you, but 8GB is pretty much all I've ever needed. Of course, that will change in the future but still...

I've got the Rampage II Extreme, need to RMA it, hopefully they replace it with the Rampage III Extreme, but I know I'm not that lucky. The RIIE supports up to 24GB of DDR3 in triple channel, so this is perfect for my mobo.

It even has its own cooling unit too. I never understood how RAM could run so hot that it would require it's own cooling system.
Having that much memory (DDR3 no less) with that much speed is enough to make my brain explode xD

This is quite an incredible feat to get 24 GB of RAM to run at 2 GHz, just think if you could run these with an SSD!!! I would love to get my hands one just to see how much you could actually push it. And this product just isn't for gamers either people doing high amount of video/picture encoding/editing will see a dramatic improvement in performance as well.
