Opera Uses Server Power to Speed up Browsing

Opera’s latest release, dubbed Opera Turbo, touts the ability to use the company’s own server to compress the data transferred by web sites, allowing users on slow Internet connections to surf at a reasonable speed.
According to Opera’s Roberto Mateu, Opera Turbo allows a person’s PC to grab data not just from the site, but also from their very own servers that can compress that site’s text and images by up to 80 percent. It’s recommended that people on connections slower than 100Kbps use the program for optimal results.
You can download Opera Turbo here, from Opera’s site.

If only Opera had released that back when I had dial-up. Well, too late now, I'm rockin' a 256K connection.

It's actually very old technology that was even used back in AOL days...
But sure, give the creds to Opera team.

Wow that is extremely useful. I tried it, and it works really well, and I can really notice a difference in load time! The only problem that I see with it is (and I know it's in beta) that right now the images get compressed far too much, and some of them are fine, but some of them are of very poor quality. '
But overall great idea!

Yet another example of why Opera is the best web browser.
Pity it doesn't work on Opera Mobile.
