Opera, Chrome Both Faster than a...Potato?
Can your browser beat a potato in a speed test? If you're using either Chrome or Opera, the answer is a resounding "yes," and both Google and Opera Software have proof. Let's start with Google.
Following the release of Chrome beta version 5.0.375.29, Google wanted to get the point across that there have been significant speed-enhancing improvements made to the underlying architecture. To get their point across, Google posted a video featuring a variety of stunts filmed with high-speed videography. The very first one involves a potato being shot through a metal grid and, well, it's probably better if you just see for yourself:
Not to be outdone, the spunky developers over at Opera Software saw this as an opportunity to poke a little fun at Google, and so they've gone and posted a video of their own. In it, a Scandivavian engineer concludes, "So there we have it, the Opera browser is much faster than a potato." This too will make more sense if you see it for yourself, so here you go:
The million dollar question is, which video is better? Cast your vote in the comments section below!

The Opera one was funny because it was a parody, but come on.. they shot a potato through a slicer. That's just freaking cool.

Potato, Patato... what I would like to know is where can I get a browser that works with WinMo 6.5, that has Flash built-in so I can see all the content on a lot of sites that NON of the browsers mentioned will show! And no mention of, what is it, SkyFox, or something like that, that I heard supports Flash, but I have yet to confirm this fact. I mean, here I have this fancy-dance HTC HD2, and it doesn't show any Flash content! At the price these 'SMART-Phones' are costing, they should do EVERYTHING!!

But it says that Chrome is rendering the website. It is pulling it from a local drive and not from the internet. Though opera seems to be actually visiting the website. Either way, im sticking with Firefox.

This comparison ain't complete with out Mozilla and there response with Firefox. And forget about Apple's Safari. Safari is in a league of it's own, which it directly competes with IE

For those of you dissing Opera -- guess what, the benchmarks prove its faster.
It's far more superior and sophisticated than Chrome.

Opera went ahead and simply parodied Google. For me, satire always wins... Not to mention that Opera 10.52 is the world's fastest browser.

Google is using amusing but ultimately useless tests to prove their browser's superiority. The real way to decide what web browser an individual should used is to use them all and find out which one you like most. Except Internet Explorer, no one should use IE.
Ever.

Much like their browser, Google's video was many times better than Opera's
Maybe I should get back to work

Google's video was better, and the browser is the fastest.
What spam filter?

Hate to say it, because I like Opera, but their vid was rather lame.... Google did it much better.

Google's video wins by far. I feel like I'm back with Bill Nye and his crazy experiments. LOL.

I'd have to vote for Opera, but I use Chrome and Firefox quite a bit, too. As far as the videos are concerned, Scandanavian fish fencing beats anything!
Oooh, look at my fancy sig! I made it myself using duct tape, two paper clips, and a half-eaten cheese sandwich!

I thought they would actually do something with the jet engine, apparently not. The chrome one was funny, but still not enough to convince me to use either.

This video is clearly made just for mocking. Opera are pretty jealous since they cannot achieve Chrome's speed :)
