Oh Snap! Motorola, Verizon Diss iPhone in Full Page Spread
Apple's iPhone 4 is getting all the attention as of late, and not all of it good. Capitalizing on the bad press, Motorola and Verizon have taken out a full-page ad in the New York Times promoting the Droid X...at the iPhone 4's expense.
"Introducing the Droid X by Motorola, the ultimate smartphone," the ad starts off. "Its screen is gigantic. It's capacity is huge. Every experience from messaging to movies is larger than life. It can even connect with your HDTV so you can share things with large audiences."
The ad starts off innocent enough, and then goes into full attack mode:
"And most importantly, it comes with a double antenna design," the ad continues. "The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like and use it just about anywhere to make crystal clear calls. You have a voice. And you deserve to be heard."

I dont remember ever reading a story about Verizon wanting the iPhone its just been a bunch of Analysts trying to predict when Verizon gets one. Whether they do or dont either way its a non story I wish would just stop. As far as this ad.....its just piling on. My Eris side by side with the iPhone is admittedly not as good looking as the new iPhone. The iPhone looks and feels fantatsic but like every Apple product Ive ever used it does not fit in to my lifestyle as I prefer open devices and the Eris finally gave me the freedom to do what I need, want and room for future growth. Even ith the hardware limitations im already doing more with my Eris than I could do with the iPhone without alot of work and money. Getting hands on with the iPhone and the iPad the other day for the first time and all I can say is its a shame. Shame they would go through the expense of making some of the most beautifull and quality feeling worthless devices. Apple needs to get with the program and give their users room to grow. This isnt the 80's.

That's awsome. . "The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like" So how long until apple releases an iphone 4.1 with new antenna (of course if you already upgrade to the 4.0 model just pay full price)? The andriod pissing on apple icon should have been used in the ad.

I love how we the consumer wins, and gets a good laugh outof corporate marketing.
I have said it before and will say it again, corporationgreed is good, we the consumer win. So long as it's a free market, and youdon't like your phone with dropped calls, feel free to switch to the mostreliable network in America. With an awesome phone that you can hold however you want.

...corporationgreed is good, we the consumer win....
Hardly ever, really. Corporation greed usually fucks the consumer in one way or the other. Corporation greed is why the Gulf is fucked with the oil spill. It's why coal miners die every few years. It's why our economy tanked in this whole subprime mortgage debacle. Corporate greed is generally not a good thing for the consumers. Payday lending, check cashing, the list goes on and on. Corporation greed is most often predatory in nature, with you and me, the consumers, squarely in its sights.
I'd agree that it's really nice to see Apple get blasted in this instance. I would never go so far as to make a sketchy statement like you made.

I believe that if you look into the reasons those things happened, it's because the government got involved, and regulated, or force certain situations upon the private corporation.
If you don't like it, I encorage you to move, or visit, or read up on what happens when the governemnt takes over *everything* and the private sector has little/no power.
History has proven it time and time again, the more the government gets involved, the more things go down hill. That's a universal point, and it's because the government is not a for-profit organization, as long as Verizon, Sprint, Apple, AT&T, are for profit, they will have the best interests of the consumer in mind.
Only an idiot would think BP likes the oil spill, and isn't doing everything they could to clean it up as soon as possible. They are bleeding money both in spilled oil, clean up costs, stock prices dropping, government fines, etc. The government held them back from fixing the leak when it was discovered, they are holding them back now from cleaning it up and fixing it.
Look into it, don't believe what you see/hear/read from the main stream, it's not the truth.

More like they have the best interests of their own pocketbooks in mind. I'm not saying that they would be better if they were not-for-profit, but corporations are generally only interested in their profits, not the consumer.

as long as Verizon, Sprint, Apple, AT&T, are for profit, they will have the best interests of the consumer in mind.
You have got to be fucking kidding me. Do you really believe that? Do you really believe other for-profit companies like, say, Humana, Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, Healthnet, have the best interests of the consumer in mind? Do you think it's true that Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, and Citibank are making the interests of their customers a top priority? Ummm.. yeah...
You are either very young and naive or you are a shareholder in Verizon, Sprint, Apple, and AT&T.
Please elaborate on how the best interests of the consumer are in mind with, say, AT&T, particularly in light of their recent fee restructuring. I will be simply fascinated by the specific examples you give.
The government held them back from fixing the leak when it was discovered, they are holding them back now from cleaning it up and fixing it.
This is the first I've heard of this. If you can't provide direct links to support this, can you at least point us in the right direction? Please don't tell me to simply Google this. I'd like to see the specific sources you used to arrive at this conclusion so that I don't get the wrong information.
