OCZ Shows Off Upcoming Fatal1ty 750W Power Supply
OCZ has been so busy pumping out SSDs as of late, it's easy to forget the company also churns out power supplies. OCZ hasn't forgotten, and coming soon, the company will add to its PSU lineup with a new Fatal1ty 750W unit.
Currently being shown at the CeBIT exhibition, the Fatal1ty sports an all new modular design fitted with low-profile modular cables. It also boasts a single +12V rail, a staple of PC Power & Cooling units, now a subsidiary of OCZ.
Other features include all Japanese made solid-state primary capacitors, a double ball bearing 135mm red LED fan, and 80+ Bronze certification with 85 percent efficiency.
No word yet on price or availability.

Seeing this guy's name on hardware automatically makes me NOT want to buy it. Why would I want to see another gamer's name on my stuff? I'm not a fan. The only thing that might make me more inclined to buy a power supply more is a Gold or Silver 80 Plus efficientcy rating on it. I bet that most of the people who are buying this stuff probably don't even know who this guy is. They just like the logo maybe. I might not mind buying something that was branded with a logo from a game like Counterstrike or Call of Duty MW2, but to have another gamer's name on my stuff would make me feel like I am conceding that they are a better gamer than I am I would never do that. However I'm sure that game developers would charge more to have their game's name on stuff than this guy is. Oh and BTW tell Steelseries to stop putting pics of top gaming teams on their web page. We do not need to see what these guys look like.

I had to look it up, as I didn't know anything about this person until reading these comments. Not bad for a nobody in my book, considering he is 29 today. I do get the hostility towards the marketing of a name, I don't care for it either but this guy really is not a bad guy. He has done a lot to promote PC gaming, something that shouldn't be so quick to dismiss, especially with this audience.

Your right.. Very observant of you to notice that. That is a feature all power supplies should feature including nonmodular ones.

I second that. If you can come up with some corny alias like 2Phat2Play and make $cash$ out of it, you'll do it too.

I wouldn't do it if I didn't have anything to do with the product production or development. That is my main problem is that they say he is helping develop it when he isn't.

I still can't get OCZ to replace my expensive PS that worked a total of 5 WEEKS! They look good, I'm sure they tried hard - but NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I've been running on my cheap $20 PS watiting for them to finally get back with me....for eight weeks now.
Never again.

Another product I won't buy because of the name (fat whatever), just like apple.
What is sad however, is that people will probably buy it thinking it is better. Not realizing that it is named after someone who has done nothing, rather than being named for being a better part.

I stopped caring about this guy after the Sound "Plastered" card that Creative Labs slapped his retarded alias on. I guess the guy still needs to whore himself out to manufacturers in order to make a living. I wouldn't be surprised if OCZ released a "Fatal1ty" SSD.

What a waste. OCZ took the finest PC power supply manufacturer off the market so that they could shovel this crap onto us, and keep prices higher. Why don't power supplies get cheaper as time goes on, anyway? Aren't they based upon tech that predates the modern PC? What's so darn expensive about making them? I'd like to see some information on what a PSU like this one actually costs to make.
As far a FATAL1TY is concerned, it's a joke to think that games actually believe that that crap is any better than anything else, and the comments section here proves it. PC manufacturers wouldn't use this unit in their systems, neither will boutique builders. That just leaves individuals, and the target audience mostly thinks it's a horrible product.
It'd better be priced reasonably, or they're not going to sell any.

I don't understand the Fatality thing. I also hate how he spells it with a 1 instead of a proper letter. Does that make you "leet"? Pfft....boring, and makes you look lame. As far as plastering his name on a PSU, it's still an OCZ power supply, it's failure rate is higher than that of Silverstone and Corsair.

His friggin name being on a product is absolutely ridiculous. What's he doing today? What games have you heard about him winning? Nothing. None. Nada. His name means so little to me, I don't even give a shit to Google to see if he HAS done jack lately.
When his mouse came out, OK. Got it. Something the guy actually has a reason to be consulted with. However, that's some time ago, his relevancy is right above whale shit and even then, his mouse friggin sucked.
OCZ is getting further and further away from the pulse of its consumers.

Is anyone else tired of this Fatal1ty guy getting his name plastered all over things? Really what has he done other than play games and win a championship if that? As far as I know he doesn't have any degree in any of the fields that these parts are manufactured in. They say he helps with the technical stuff but I doubt figuring out what style to put his name on the product counts. Can we please let this phase pass and make him get a real job.

Fatality isn't he in his 50's now?
This is embarrassing, please don't, do not use gamers for marketing it's just plain stupid. Hardware geeks are going to figure out of your hardware is awesome or not regardless of who's name is pasted all over it. I for one have never purchased anything because of who's name is on it. I only purchase the best performing hardware I can find available at the moment in time.

I dunno, man. All I know is he played a lot of Counter-strike and has a ton of stuff named after him for marketing purposes. Companies think gamers idolize him, or something.

I don't care if ppl idolize him or not. My point is that you can buy the same thing that doesn't have his name on it cheaper. Not only that but he hasn't done anything to deserve it. He played Quake 3 and could beat any one at it big deal. He does not posess an engineering degree or an electronics degree so the companies saying he help develope something is a load.
