NZXT Targets Budget Buyers with Beta Mid-Tower Case
We don't typically expect much from a $50 case, but NZXT may change how we view budget enclosures if its Beta mid-tower chassis manages to look as good in person as it does in pictures. And it doesn't look to sacrifice a whole lot in terms of features, either.
As we're starting to see more of lately (and we couldn't be happier about it), the Beta comes with an all black interior rather than unfinished steel. From a feature standpoint, the budget enclosure includes four external 5.25-inch and five internal 3.5-inch drive bays, all of which support tool-less installation. Cooling duties are served by four 120mm fans (one each on the front and rear, and two and on the side), as well as what looks to be plenty of cut-outs for cable management.
"Given the current economic conditions, we wanted to offer gamers a sleek sturdy case built for performance and maximum expandability without breaking the bank," said Johhn Hou, Chief Designer at NZXT. "Beta provides the perfect solution for a sub $1,000 PC and will give gamers multiple options when configuring a rig with phenomenal value."
NZXT says the Beta will be available this month with an MSRP of $50.

Anybody else notice the cutouts and rubber gromets for a liquid cooling setup? Nice! Totally not expected from a $50 case! Good job NZXT. You guys are really starting to grow on me :)

aw man. with the mounting of the HDD's as it stands, my IDE cable isn't gonna be able to stretch that far (=_=). I hope it holds my Zalman 9900 CPU cooler, as well. 50$ USD is not a whole lot for a case and i hope the reviews are sipportive of it.
Time to buy a few more Noctua fans for that! Will totally match with the interior and PSU i just got. I'll be sure to give my IDE cable a proper burial when i get this case.

Not bad, not bad at all for $50. NZXT is slowly climbing my ladder of brands to check out when shopping for pc hardware. I bought their gaming mouse and was really impressed with it considering it was their first mouse.

it looks like the case can be turned upside down?5$ for a pack of PC feet on the other end and it should be set to go.

I'll wait to buy until my favorite PC magazine does a formal review.

Slap another 120mm fan port ontop of the case somewhere and I'm sold
My idea was right next to the psu over the RAM slots to suck the hot ram air outta the top of the case.
The CNPS will do the rest
Nice Case
If not, I'll just mod the sucker

I like it, those 2 fan ports on the side panal look good. Looks like a budget case where the cooling doesnt suck for once..
