NYPD Captures Criminal After He Taunts Police With His Location On Facebook

Hey bad guys, here's a news flash: unless you're Robin hood – and you're not – rubbing your fugitive status in the face of law enforcement doesn't make you cool, it only makes you stupid. Cracking jokes on social media networks may draw some traffic to your Twitter feed, but it also draws cops like white on rice. Victor Burgos is the newest member of the Dumbest Criminals club after using Facebook to taunt NYC police with his location.
Burgos, age 29, was wanted by Utica Police because he apparently was in the habit of beating and harassing one of his ex-girlfriends. Rather than doing time, the Brooklyn-born Burgos fled. Maybe the adrenaline got to his head: after seeing his face on the list of Utica's most wanted, Burgos posted "Catch me if you can, I'm in Brooklyn" on his Facebook account.
So, um, they did.
The NYPD quickly tracked down and arrested Burgos in an apartment the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood in Brooklyn. In a deliciously ironic turn of events, he was hunched over his computer and cruising Facebook when police kicked in the door.
Utica Police Sgt. Steve Hauck gets our award for straightforward explanation of the month: "He told us via Facebook to come and get him and we did," he told the Daily News.

It seems like all of the dumb people are using FaceBook. My question is, how were they able to locate him in Brooklyn? I mean, Brooklyn is massive and contains many districts within. How did they know he was specifically in Bedford Stuyvesant? Anyhow, it matters not. Hey officers, I am in Zimbabwe! Catch me if you can! LMAO!!!

This has nothing to do with the article but the spam here is horrible. Unlike some of the people here I won't blame Maximumpc. I know once you get targeted its super hard to escape the spamming losers. If I posted something horrible under their post would they notice? They are essentially advertising for free. Imagine if you have a ad out on the street and someone spray paints a huge penis on it. No one will notice the ad anymore right? I think we should do that to the spammers. We are all here because we like this site, I think we should be doing something about it.

Just because it has "facebook" in it, it doesn't mean the article belongs on a tech website. How many times are you going to post these articles before realizing you'e saying the exact same thing and just changing names.

Obviously, intelligence wasn't one of his strong suits. Oh well, at least stupidity has some value in the US: to give other people material to laugh at.
If we can somehow get a follow-up with video on the trial, that would be awesome; I would just love to see the defense.
