Nvidia Quietly Launches Two New DX10.1 Videocards
Without any press releases that we could find, Nvidia has launched a pair of low-level graphics cards, both of which are being aimed at the OEM market.
The first is the GT220, a half-height card with 48 processor cores chugging along at 615MHz (GPU) with 1GB of GDDR3 memory running a 790MHz on a 128-bit memory interface. That adds up to 25.3GB/s of memory bandwidth. For what it's worth, the OEM card also boasts support for DirectX 10.1.
Also launched is the G210, another half-height OEM card sporting DirectX 10.1 support. As you might have surmised from the number scheme, the G210 checks in with lower specs than the GT220. Specifically, 16 processor cores with the GPU clocked at 589MHz, and 512MB of DDR2 memory clocked at 500MHz on a 64-bit bus. The lower clocks and bus chops the memory bandwidth down to 8GB/s.
No word on price or which OEMs are expected to carry the new cards.

A company who was more than capable of making a directx 10.1 part, simply refused to do so for generations of directx 10 cards, finally gives in under the radar?
What gives?
You can have your recession. I'm not participating.

When ATI released their 10.1 cards, Nvidia spent so much time and effort trying to convince people that it wasn't worth the time and effort to support 10.1 (much less purchase a card that does) that to do anything else would be to admit defeat. Maybe now Nvidia will spend less time paying (or bullying) software developers to prevent them from incorporating 10.1 support into their games (Assassin's Creed ring any bells?) and more time helping developers streamline their code so that DX10 won't be such a resource pig.

can't wait to see the pricing. I got an HIS ATi 4670 GDDR3 512 MB, DX 10.1 780 Mhz core 2 Ghz Memory for 69.99 on NewEgg with free shipping. If it's above that Nvidia's just plain fucking up.

You generally can't buy OEM cards, because they're usually just slightly improved current cards with different names and more features, like the gt120, which is very similar to the 9500gt, with more multimedia functionality.
