Nvidia CEO Outed as Mac-Daddy (and Mac-Husband)
While giving a speech at the American University of Dubai, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang held nothing back in declaring his affection for Macs (while taking a dig at Intel in the process).
"Apple uses the best technology for their [computers]," Huang said. "Apple says to their customers: 'If you buy a computer from us, you can be sure we have selected the best technology inside for you'. Their promise to consumers isn't 'we've selected the best technology for you with the exception of what Intel allows us to use'. And that's why I'm all Apple! At home it's just Macs everywhere. It's Nvidia's technology in all of them but I use Macs. My son has two Macs, my daughter has a Mac, there's an extra Mac just in case, and my wife has a Mac. It's just Mac, Mac, Mac!"
Call us crazy, but we get th feeling Huang likes Macs. And that's well and good, so long as Nvidia keeps churning out high-powered videocards for those of us content to be controlled by Intel on the Windows-based PC platform.
On a side note, there's been a bit of buzz over the slick looking tablet pictured in front of Huang. The outspoken CEO didn't say a word about it -- or at least no one's reporting that he did -- leaving us to speculate. Could it be the long-rumored Apple tablet? Is it a Tegra-powered handheld? Maybe both.

Being a CEO, does not mean he actually knows anything about computers or technology. He knows how to run a business.

Anyone who chooses ATI over nvidia because this statement is an idiot. I know, because I'm one too >.> I was concidering waiting for fermi before buying a new graphics card, but every time this guy opens his mouth he pisses me off a little bit more. I think as long as.... what did the guy down at the bottom call him? Kim Jong Dong? Yeah, as long as Kim Jong Dong is CEO of nvidia I will be purchasing ATI products.

i just looove the fact that he probably doesnt realize that he just killed the intrest of tons of would-be customers. if he only knew how much the gereral populus of people who buy Nvidia cards hated macs, then maye he would begin to comprehend.
at least i have a 4870.

See! And they told me I was crazy for getting an ATI card.
This man is obviously a joke. I hope he enjoys selling his nVidia products to all those Mac users out there... all four of them...

tell me about it, Apple is about the Nvidea unfriendly company there is. They court Intel for their processors in the iMac, pro, mini, and laptops. Use ATI exclusivly for theirGPU, Snowleopard doesnt even support Nvidea for open CL last i checked...so buying Apple he is givng money to intel and amd...

by "best technology" I assume he means "low to low-mid tier tech for a premium price" but hey that glowing apple and that aluminum case sure do look good... right?
what a fucking joke.

Does anyone else see this as a reason NOT to buy nvidia video cards? I mean if he's so into mac he obviously doesn't game. Therefore he has no understanding or affection for video horsepower. If the CEO of the company doesn't believe the main part of their business is important why would anyone else in the company? Maybe thats why they can't make a video control panel that doesn't suck: because they don't care. I wish I could have Catalyst Control Center for my nvidia based card. I'm already planning a move to ATI and this is just one more reason.

...ati is just getting cheaper, faster, and more features with every single release...
I was previously a fan of nvidia years ago...I cannot deny how awesome ati is right now though...just remarkable turnaround...

That's the youngest CEO I've ever seen. They're usually shriveled up old white dudes.

hahaha oh you funny man you. so he has macs at home, all that means is he has moolah to burn and dosent want to understand computers. also does any one else see the irony in the 'best technology' comment? when the mac pro comes oem with the geforce 120 which is the same thing as a 8600gt($60)? and the laptops come with 2ghz core2duo's instead of quad cores??? just throwin that out there

Didn't Apple recently buy up a large stock of ATI's 4000 series cards for their desktop line?

Way to alienate all of us PC owners who faithfully pay hundreds of dollars for your projects. If I bought a Macincrap, I wouldn't be able to buy Fermi when it arrives. Great strategy, get your mouth under control.

I thought Gordon hated mac's oh wait, that's not Gordon??? "mac's have the best technology." It's all PC parts with drivers writen for a Unix based OS. At least PCs don't have to pay a tax to upgrade, I want this awesome new ATI card and bam, done. I'm upgrading from an old and slow nvidia card to a FAST and NEW ATI Card, no worries for me bc it works right out of the box. Suck on that Kim Jong Dong!

I don't think that the CEO of nvidia being in bed with apple necessarily affects whether or not nvidia makes good gaming cards or not. Either way, a very seductive part of the market still lies in the gaming comunity, with the only other real good high-end video card market being workstation cards... I would find it hard to believe that ANY CEO would be stupid enough to ignore a huge section of a market only because they prefer to use their computers for something different.
And don't both apple and intel now prefer ati...I was under that impression...could be wrong...
