I would buy the GN4 today if it had an SD card slot. But it does not, and I will not not. Sorry Google, I love the pure Android experience but I want the option of adding memory via SD.

Maybe the GN5 will have that option? Are you listening Google?!?

No LTE, No SD card support, only 8 and 16GB and dismal battery life?

No thanks.

Well it seems it gets LTE in Canada, and possibly will get LTE in the US when T-Mobile's LTE network goes live. I seriously don't see what people need more than 8 or 16 GB of onboard storage. Do you really think you need to carry around your entire movie/music collection in your pocket? And what do you mean by "dismal" battery life. Sure, according to Anandtech, the battery life is around four hours browsing the web on 3G/LTE or 6+ hours via WiFi. Sure there are other phones that beat that benchmark, and phones that don't. I don't know about you, but I don't sit there for four hours surfing the web on my phone. Personally, considering the price (note that price is unlocked WITHOUT contract,) I think the battery life is just fine for the average person that would use this phone. And this is coming from an iPhone 4 user.

LTE is garbage, it should have an ethernet port instead!!! If your going to do something dumb like ACTUALLY PAYING FOR WIRELESS INTERNET then gimme your money now so I can put it to better use

It doesn't have a LTE power amplifier and they only got it working on band 4 of LTE....So Att and Verizon users are screwed. Still its not FCC certified for use on American LTE networks. So there goes your first point.

Second, do I really think I need more than 16GB?! Are you serious? Do YOU need a smartphone at all?! I don't care what YOU THINK *I* NEED. The fact is I don't have a choice with the N4. Yeah I keep music, movies, pictures(thousands btw), work spreadsheets and TM's, games, emulators.....do I need to go on?....on my phone, split between the internal storage and SD card on my RAZR MAXX HD. I like not having to worry about "hmm, I do I have enough space to install this app?". It's about choice, and as you already claimed to be a iPhone 4 user.....what do YOU know of "choice"?

Thirdly, I've looked at quite a few reviews of battery life on the N4. Four hours of use?! How can you sit there and say that's not "dismal"? But hey battery life varies by person to person and their use. So let's go to some hard number....screen on time. The N4 seems to be able to muster almost 4 hours of on screen time with the brightness at 50% before it dies. THAT sir is pathetic. If I have a smartphone, I expect to be able to actually USE the damn thing for longer that 2-3 hours out of the 24 we have in a day. ALMOST 4 hours(some have gotten over 4 hours....on wifi)....and it doesn't even use that "battery hogging" LTE. Meanwhile my RAZR MAXX HD will get 7 hours of on screen time.....Not total battery life no 7 hours of the screen constantly on. Oh and that's on LTE the whole time too. So yeah, the battery life of the N4 is "dismal".

Cool story, bro. I like my choices just fine. I don't waste time sitting around playing on my phone. I check my emails, make phone calls, pull up service repair manuals, order parts, view and edit my calendar, go over my inventory reports, etc. I don't have time to watch movies on my phone. If I want to watch a movie, I have a nice big flat screen to watch them on. I do listen to music on my phone while I'm driving or working out at the gym. But I don't need a 2000+ song play list to do those things. And if I'm going to surf the web for any length of time, I'd rather do it on something larger than a four or five inch screen. Like, I don't know, maybe my 27" monitor connected to my desktop which is connected to broadband Internet. And yes, I like my iphone 4 just fine. It does far more than I'll ever need it to do, and hey, my company gave it to me. Free. Unlike those that got android phones through the company and had to pay three or four hundred dollars for them. I'm sure they are happy with their phones too. But I'm happy, and my wallet's not three hundred dollars lighter. If I were looking for a smartphone to use personally, I'd say the 16GB model would be just fine. And I'd still come out cheaper than what you would have paid for your RAZR MAXX HD. But I'm glad you have all this free time to watch movies and surf the web and play games on your phone. Forgive me if I use my phone for what it was intended for, instead of using it as a personal portable entertainment center because we need to be entertained 24/7 nowadays.

The 16gb is only $349 on the Play Store, the article says $399.

Nexus devices are no better than crApple products. No expandable storage or usb hosting makes the device useless. Anyone dumb enough to pay 10$ per gb for internet should give their money to me instead, just fucking saying. S3 and Note 2 is where its at bitches!

I should also mention that android itself is a pain in the ass. If Ubuntu gets released for mobile in an un neutered state it'll be going on as ads and a lack of fully functional FREE software are driving me away from android. If media players on desktop can support flac, media players on android should support it! If I wanted useless "easy to use" trash-for-apps I would get IOS. I WANT FULL DESKTOP FUNCTIONALITY ON MY PHONE AND GOOGLE BETTER FUCKING DELIVER!

while that is true about the sd micro expansion...this device is STILL a good deal considering that it comes unlocked at said price...AND doesn't require a contract, AND...isn't stolen and sold on cragislist/ebay =). I for one do dislike the no expansion idea...but that level of tech (minus 4g LTE, no big deal to me) for that price is HIGHLY enticing. Too bad I've already got a S3 =\.

the 16gb is only 60 bucks more then a ipod touch here in canada, and it has a bigger screen, better camera, and if i want to use it as a phone, all i would have to do is buy a sim card for it

you're right. Not having microSD is the only reason why I didn't buy a Nexus 10
