Well until Demon souls 2 comes out for the PS4 not really interested.
I would just buy it for the PC but not sure how the controls are...

Plus you pay for Playstation plus online for online gameplay which is a joke considering last gen for free online.

I have Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition on my gaming rig, and it plays great with a 360 controller. It also looks much better and smoother than the console version. Just wanted to throw that out there...

Is anyone else seeing a video game market crash coming again? The market is getting saturated with similar games, sequels, and nothing new in the way of innovation it looks like. The Xbox1 is actually seeming to move away from its main use with MS more inclined to show all of its NON-gaming features. PS4 is sailing high on maintaining the status quo, and it seems that the only real profit to be made is in kickstarter funded indie titles.

So many studios have decided to ditch the big publishers, or they ditch the studios in order to make COD109, and things like the humble bundle and other "pay what you want" types of sales models are going to knock the industry out with the help of free to play and ad driven titles.

Just wondered what anyone else's thoughts might be.

us pc gamers dont buy physical games anymore. digital downloads are cheaper anyways. as for the consoles everyone is waiting for the new ones to release thats why no one is buying anything for current systems. atleast until gta5 comes out..haha

Hopefully GTA V comes is released for consoles and PC at once (unlike GTA IV was...delayed six months for PCs.)

It kind of sucks that they are releasing it on older console platforms mere months ahead of the next gen. A lot of people will end up buying/playing it twice (perhaps that's a clever business strategy...IDK.)

Its being released on older console because more people will be able to buy it.

"Consoles rule! PCs suck!!" -Warrior247 ad nauseam. "I'm going to top-post again on the same article! Pay attention to me!!"

Wait....did MPC get rid of him? YESSSSSSSS

You're welcome. I brought the attention to his posts to the editors a few days ago, and now maybe we can have adult discussions.

I sort of did poke the bear, though TBH. In hindsight I could've/should've left the poster alone about it but it all would have happened eventually anyway I suppose.

Carlidan

Well I think he wanted the attention or something.

I just pre-ordered a PS4 and noticed that the release date is Dec 31 2013. That's a month later than Xbox one and at the END of the holiday season not the beginning. How can Sony be getting the jump on MS by being a month late and missing the holiday season completely.

I have so many Steam games that I have not touched that I could easily go the rest of my life (not that many years) without buying another game.
Wait! There is a Steam sale in July? More games to buy!

avatar

Led Weappelin

I'm like you John. I've got a bunch I've not touched yet and am still looking forward to the next Steam sale in July. But if I could get my hands on Half-Life-3 or Cryostasis-2 I'd be all over it at full price.....any price.LOL

I'm replaying HL and RTCW right now. Classics.

Ha! You effing tool bag! You bend to the powers that be that tell you to be a good little sheeple and buy, buy bu... ZOMFG! FREE TF2 skins with Saints Row Pre-Order! SOLD! ......now what was I saying? Right! You're a slave to the industry you just buy when they tell you to and you have no contro.... WHAT!? There's no way they can mark that 66% off!

Not exactly sure what you're making fun of. If the powers that be want to steeply discount all the games I want to play, then of course i'm going to buy buy buy. I'm pumped for the steam sale.

Expensive buying all thoughs console games that won't work then buy another one for more games. One time a worker from my local game store said he gave up on PC's for gaming because he didnt like having to pay too upgrade his video card every six months. Built my computer over 4 years ago and I can still play any game out their(E8500 775 socket running Vista 64). Just added a new HD 7870 so I can play Crysis 3. As long as I have a good copy of windows that support the games and a working system I can keep them going. Maybe consoles are a bad invesment, a money maker for their creators and people are starting too realize it. Hopefully, Microsoft will wakeup and smell the coffee instead of the roses because they will still be getting richer off of us . ..LOL

With fewer games being produced by fewer developers, of course the industry has taken a hit. No wonder they want to control the sale of used games...
I imagine folks are hanging on to whatever games are in their possession given the uncertainty of the used game business model. If M$ has its way, I suspect hard copies of 360 games will skyrocket when folks start hoarding them. Digital downloads = dead end games in the long run...
I preordered only the PS4 based on the direction M$ has taken. I can always cancel if Sony follows suit.

No one said you had to be a first adopter. There are more than 2 options here -- the most wise being to wait and see how this all plays out. The fact that you preordered something based on what another company is doing is hardly a wise move. But us wise people need pioneers like you to pay full price for the buggiest version of a consumer product so we can know when it's a good buy.

The PS4 will continue to require discs if you buy games on disc. If you buy digital, you will be subject to additional DRM policies likely very similar to the Xbone. Except the Xbone actually has family sharing. In the end, people that want discless gaming will likely favor the Xbone.

The used games portion of this report doesn't really take into account how retailers will push used games over new ones. These companies like Gamestop or Game will instruct their employees to push used games even when a customer is prepared to purchase new. From their perspective, it makes sense because of the increased profit margin. But as far a skewing the stats as to how much used games actually matter, that is an unknown.

Isn't the next gen the major cause of this larger spending gap. People spending less to save up for the new consoles and not increasing there catalog of games that are going to become obsolete.
