I'm glad they added the feature. I can't for the life of me imagine why anyone would ever want to use it, but I understand that there are some people who do for some odd reason. It takes all types, I guess.

Now if it could be disabled only for certain contacts...

I have always enjoyed not having 30 emails in my inbox that can be condensed down to 3.

The issue is that I sometimes miss new emails in a thread because they don't seem to stand out to me, especially in a really long thread. And if there are multiple people involved, it's not easy to see, at a glance, who the new email is from.

Also, when you star an email in a threaded conversation, you are automatically taken to the starred email in the thread, not the latest reply. That's surprisingly annoying.

People don't like conversation grouping. I find that... weird. So much less clutter; what once took up a page or two is now just one line. Why take a step back?

Thanks for the tip.  I have never cared for the feature.  For those who want to know where it is, it is in under Settings / General tab about 6 entries down.

I'll be turning it off.  I have never liked this method, but am forced to use it.  No longer!

Agreed! I'm old school and never liked it.
