Although this is interesting news, I wish I would hear instead that Netflix is reportedly in talks to make their streaming picture quality better.

I hope their "original" show is Farscape 2. Or Firefly 2.

Watch as IPs and cable networks and movie studios buy each other out then offer streaming movies and TV shows. then watch the cap on your monthly usage slowly creep down so they can screw you out of more and more money each month. It,s coming I know it. This is why I prefer to rent my dvds over downloads

Hahah!  If Netflix manages to pull this off, this will be wonderful!  I look forward to the crumbling of the Old Establishment.  May Netflix stay true to consumer choice.

That many (who I seem to piss off a lot on MPC) would consider this an act of greed on the part of Netflix. Spending millions of dollars to gain exclusive (for a time) rights to something and push everyone else out of the "way".

Might I also point out this is the free market self-correcting.

And that the government had nothing (we can only hold our breath and hope they don't swoop in and screw it up) to do with it.

And that the consumer always wins, when business (Netflix) "stay true to consumer choice [s]".

So, let's all be glad that business are "greedy" and will spend millions of dollars to gain exclusive rights to something, to further their evil empire, in an effort to keep us happy, to gain more customers, to further their evil business, and become more greedy. :)

Is anyone getting this yet?

It is really of no surprise that you are leaving a trail of "pissed" people behind you.  You are merely trolling with "free market" rhetoric. Nothing works well left alone in a vacuum.  The reason for this is that things are run by human beings that possess all the frailties that we can expect.  The prime one and you've mentioned it yourself, is greed.  Everyone wants just a little more.  There are generally no exceptions to this rule.  Netflix is not doing this out of the kindness of their hearts.

I did find humor in this one:  "Let's all be glad that businesses spend millions of dollars to gain exclusive rights to something, to further their evil empire, in an effort to keep us happy, to gain more customers, to further their evil business, and become more greedy"  You do understand that corporations have bought our politicians, right?

All entities can be corrupted.  Business included.  But hey, at least all the banks and oil companies are rolling in dough.

Peace!

I really don't think so, dude. Maybe if you're lucky someone will play devil's advocate. This is a lot different than debating how much control government should have over essential infrastructure, it's not even in the same ballpark. Not everyone who disagrees with you on an issue will have a mirror image opinion on that issue. Just because someone believes in regulation doesn't mean they're communist. That's a little insulting.

Ghok I stop agruing with people with his mindset. You can state facts and examples why sometimes regulations are needed and he still thinks they shouldn't be. Do I think sometimes governments overreaches sometimes. Of course, but saying no regulations and free market is the best thing for america is just a stupid person wating for the next economic cashtrophe to happen.
