MySkyStatus Lets Everyone on Twitter and Facebook Know That You're Okay
Maybe you're not afraid to fly, but chances are, someone in family or circle of friends probably is. So that means every time you take to the skies, someone out there is worried about you, Put your loved ones at ease by allowing them to follow your flight on Facebook or Twitter.
The updates come courtesy of the new MySkyStatus service, which works with both of the aforementioned social networking sites. All you have to do is input your account information and list your flight details, and MySkyStatus will take care of the rest. While you stretch out in First Class for a mile high nap or pop a pair of earphones in your ears to drown out that whiny brat in Coach, MySkyStatus will keep busy periodically updating your Twitter and Facebook accounts.
DownloadSquad reports that there's quite a bit of branding associated with the service, which includes "powered by Lufthansa" with every status update, so you'll have to decide if that's enough to turn you off to the service or not.

Ok, in principal I can see the attraction... In practice, however, does anyone really believe that in the event of a real problem this service will update your twitter with feeds like this :
Plane Hijacked. Hijacker coming this way... Oh God. I love you mom!
Plane missing, presumed crashed on desert island.
The person you are trying to reach is now part of a rising fireball. You must be so proud.
And if the service doesn't update with the bad news, and I mean really bad news, then who are they kidding when they say Put your loved ones at ease by allowing them to follow your flight on Facebook or Twitter? I mean, if I know that the service is gonna lie it's ass off to me in the case of a crash, I'm not really being put at ease, am I?

True but then again if we have the capability to have software do this for us, why waste time calling a person and using up their time as well... I can see it as good.

Have people really become that lazy..... tell me again why u can't just take the same information you just input into MySkyStatus and call or go to the airlines website to find out the status of the flight. People are getting too lazy and is going to hurt us in the long run.
