MSI Wind Box DC100 Aims to Leave a Big Impression with a Small Footprint

Small. Simple. Smart. Those are the three goals MSI set out to achieve with its new Wind Box DC100, which the company is describing as a fashionable mini PC with an eco-chic design. Tear open the DC100 and you'll find the latest AMD Brazos platform running the show with an E-450 dual-core processor clocked at 1.65GHz and Radeon HD 6320 discrete class graphics.

The Wind Box DC100 is a modern day nettop that measures 191.8 (W) x 150.93 (H) x 34.94 (D) millimeters and weighs around 830 grams, or about 7.55 x 5.94 x 1.37 inches and less than two pounds if you want nothing to do with the metric system. MSI says average power consumption will never creep above 40W, and combined with MSI's proprietary noise reduction technology, the thing hums along at under 22 dB (standby).

Full hardware specs include:

• AMD E-450 APU (A50M chipset) with Radeon HD 6320 graphics
• 2GB DDR3-1333 memory
• 320GB SATA II hard drive (5400RPM)
• 5.1 channel audio
• 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
• 6-in-1 media card reader
• HDMI out and VGA out
• Six USB 2.0 (four in the front, two in the rear)
• Mic-in/Headphone out; Line-out; SPDIF-out
• TV tuner card (optional - USB interface
• Wall mount (optional - VESA standard)
• Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

On the software side, MSI includes synchronization software so you can roam on the cloud. Through MSI's Smart Media Link, you can stream multimedia files simultaneously from different devices in the LAN or Wi-Fi network.
