MSI Refreshes G Series Gaming Notebook Series with Core i7 2670QM Processor
MSI's 17.3-inch GT780DXR and 15.6-inch GT683DXR laptops haven't even begun to show their age just yet, but they're both getting an upgraded processor nonetheless. These recently launched notebooks, along with MSI's ultra slim X460 series, now come with the rock 'em, sock 'em power of Intel's Core i7 2670QM processor, which boils down to a 200MHz upgrade over the Core i7 2630QM chip it's replacing, both with 6MB of cache.
MSI made the announcement on the aircraft carrier USS Hornet in Alameda, California, during Nvidia's GeForce LAN 6 event over the weekend. Both the GT780DXR and GT683DXR come with Nvidia's GeForce GTX 570M discrete graphics and are priced between $1,650 and $2,000. A top of the line model (GT780DXR-200US) looks like this:
- 17.3-inch Full HD display (1920x1080)
- Intel Core i7 2670QM processor
- 16GB DDR3 memory
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 570M graphics
- 1.5TB hard drive storage in RAID 0
- Blu-ray burner
- 7-in-1 memory card reader
- 720p webcam
- 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi; Bluetooth

Bad luck I couldn't go to the event, anyway MSI can sure make a real good note book. I'll have to watch out for my spending just in case I go broke though.
