MSI Gives Glimpse of Upcoming X58A-GD65 Motherboard
Without a whole lot of fanfare, MSI has gone and released a handful of pictures of its upcoming X58A-GD65 motherboard. From the looks of things and what we know so far, this will serve as MSI's flagship X58 board.
Every bit the next-gen part, the X58A-GD65 will come with six SATA 3Gb/s ports, two SATA 6Gb/s, two USB 3.0 ports, and twin eSATA ports. It will also include MSI's so-called "Military Class" components, which consists of Active Phase Switching, DrMOS, high-end capacitors, and a handful of other goodies.
The rest of the board's construction consists of six DDR3-2133 memory slots, three PCI-E x16 slots (supports 3-way SLI or quad CrossFireX setups), Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, and 7.1 channel audio.
No word yet on price or availability.

The board doesn;t even have an 8-pin for the cpu... MSI is like a joke in the motherboard business go with an Asus or a gigabyte, there is no comparison.

This isn't the flagship board. The flagship board is the big bang xpower, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130289. Also, am I the only one who thinks the heatsinks look incredibly wimpy? Those look the same as the ones which cannot keep the x58 pro-e (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130226) cool. In fact, they look even worse, because there is no heatpipe or mosfet cooling. Who came up with this? Please tell me this heatsink design isn't finalized.
To me, this looks more like a solid midrange board, something designed to slot in between the xpower and the pro-e and compete with the likes of the evga sli and ftw3, gigabyte ud5 and ud3r, asrock x58 deluxe3, asus p6x58d-e, etc.
