Mozilla Finds Some Users Won't Upgrade to Firefox 3 Because of Porn Habits

According to a recent study by Mozilla, the number one reason for users not upgrading from Firefox 2 to Firefox 3 was the new location bar, and the fact that it went deep into people’s bookmarks to suggest sites as they typed. More than 25 percent cited this as their reason for keeping the last generation of Firefox as their browser of choice.
“When we expanded the capabilities of the location bar to search against all history and bookmarks in Firefox 3, a lot of people contacted us to say that they had certain bookmarks they didn’t really want to have displayed,” said Firefox’s principal designer, Alex Faaborg. “In some cases users had intentionally hidden these bookmarks in deep hierarchies of folders, somewhat similar to how one might hide a physical object. Having something from your previous browsing displayed to someone else who is using your computer (or even worse) to a large audience of people as you are giving a presentation, is really one of the most embarrassing things that Firefox can do to you.”
On a related note, Mozilla has introduced a private browsing mode in Firefox 3.5. So, you know, if this is the sort of thing you need to have – it’s safe to upgrade now.

Servicing computers is way more fun. All those things they say about computer shops stealing your personal files (your pr0n) are pretty truthful. I worked at a local place for a few months and this one guy was obsessed with collecting other people's... "personal files" - even if it wasn't something he was into.
It was like some twisted sense of a trophy.
Some people have some real gems (and I mean the vomit-inducing kind).
On a more relative note: I prefer to have my browsers forget everything upon closing. Unless I'm using session manager, which is something I actively decide.

Heh, I actually had something similar thing happen with Safari when I was using a friend's Mac. I just typed in "www" and a couple of rather, um, interesting sites from her history came up. People are so careless sometimes. Lol.

My policy is: If you don't want people knowing you go to a site, DON'T FREAKING BOOKMARK IT. Durrrrrr.

You can do this via Tools|Options and on the Privacy Tab, you'll find 2 frames: History and Location Bar.
Change the parameter labeled "When using the location bar suggest: " via the selection presented in the drop down (History and Bookmarks, History, Bookmarks or Nothing)

it's not all porn...well mostly but not all...
their's also bank sites, and um...hobbies with odd names like DeviantArt....i think...
maybe....
could be...
though it is a point....DA may be safe but if your giving a presentation and "deviant art" pops up well, it's a egg face moment.

What's wrong with DeviantArt? The name that suggests it's art that's deviant? DEVIANT MEANS EVIL AND SICK. SICK AND EVIL THINGS IN YOUR HISTORY.
FACIST
/sarcasm
Just saying, I think a better example is order that's all.
