Motorola Confirms Second Generation Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition Tablets
A little over a week after pictures of Motorola's Xoom 2 tablet were the leaked to the Internet, the mobile device maker went and got all official by launching two refreshed Xoom slates in the U.K. and Ireland: the Motorola Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition, both of which feature a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, Corning Gorilla Glass, a splashguard coating, and Android 3.2 (Honeycomb).
The Xoom 2 is a 10.1-inch slate that's thinner, lighter, and brighter than the original. Motorola said it "strategically designed" the edges to make the tablet more comfortable to hold, and it's now compatible with the optional Motorola Stylus. Specs are mostly similar with a 5MP rear-facing camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and several Business Ready features like VPN support and data encryption.
A little smaller is the Xoom 2 Media Edition with an 8.2-inch display. This one weighs less than a paperback (386g) and sports mostly the same specs, minus the business friendly features and with the addition of multiple speakers and "booming bass."
No word on when these will launch in the U.S. or for how much.

As a Xoom 1 owner, I'm a bit disappointed in this. It really should be a quad-core. My Xoom purrs along @1.4Ghz right now....I can go up to 1.7 if I want to but it's not needed.
