Microsoft VP Cashes In on Money Scented Perfume
The next time you visit Disneyland, pay attention as you walk down Main Street past the candy shops. You'll notice vents pumping out the smells from within, giving you a whiff of fudge and other delicious delights. It's a simple marketing technique, and for Patrick McCarthy, a vice president of sales at Microsoft, there's a certain magic in the smell of money, too.
Prior to now, McCarthy has never dabbled in fragrances, so what prompted him to create His Money Colgne for men and Her Money Eau de Parfum for women, both of which are supposed to smell like money?
"I really feel that people wear this will feel more confident," McCarthy told AOL News. "I got th idea after reading a story about a Japanese study that showed a significant increase in worker productivity when the smell of money was pumped through vents into factories."
Though McCarthy's new to the world of fragrances, he isn't going at it alone. He employed the help of Larry Murrison, who created a Michael Jordan fragrance and one for Johnny Carson. As AOL News tell it, Murrison reverse engineered the smell of real money and turned it into a solvent.
"Then we added the right mixture of oils and to make it work for men and for women," McCarthy explains.
Both scents are available now for around $35 online.

You don't go to a restaurant for an oil change and neither should one go to a website allegedly committed to all things PC and find an article on cologne. What's next? Ten tips when resurfacing your driveway? At what point are you willing to draw a line and say, "This is beyond tangental, irrelevant drivel and it does not belong here."
If you want to know about a new cologne go to the Macy's website or perfume.com - there's a whole site committed to this stuff and guess what, if you go there, you don't see anything about Sandy Bridge and you know why? Because it isn't relevant.

If Jiffy lube started a pizza chain, I'm sure a car magazine would mention it, even though they aren't a food magazine. Just like when someone like the VP of microsoft decides to do something off the wall and spend money on a money fragrance line, I would expect some tech site to share that tid bit with us. You don't find it interesting and strange to know the VP of microsoft is making perfume? I personally do. That's why these articles are fun to read. Lighten up!

I never carry arond paper money. I only have coins in my car for the laundromat. And now, our local laundromat will be accepting debit cards!! Even our pop machines at work accepts credit/debit cards. And what does money even smell like?

Pumping the smell of money into a factory to increase worker productivity sure beats actually paying them higher wages.

Please Paul,
Please stop posting this stuff here. There is no way this has anything to do with Maximum PC and it does not belong here.

Regardless of what organization is behind this or whomever may or may not endorse it the product is still nothing more than scented liquids intended to be applied to one's body. Nothing about this has anything to do with PCs or peripherals.
