Microsoft Spearheads Windows 8 Retail Campaign

After looking at the final release of Windows 8 on a VMWare I went from utterly hating it to neutral about it. By no means does it actually make me want to upgrade from Windows 7, however.

I see this working extremely well for tablets and phones. Desktops only if they have touch screen (or you're a user who knows his/her shortcuts).

A couple of gripes I have. Upon installing Win8 you can't really have the of features unless you have a Windows Live or Hotmail account (which probably won't matter to some). Another gripe seems to be that you have to switch to desktop before you even can install a program (which imo defeats the purpose of staying the Start Tiles). But really it didn't take long to get used to.

Are they that desperate to make Win8 work that they have micromanage the sale of it as well?

This site is getting as bad as The Verge.

Microsoft is spearheading a Windows campaign? Whodathunkit?

In related news, Apple is reportedly spearheading the latest iPad campaign, and Google is said to be spearheading the latest Android campaign.

"personal contacts from Allison Brown, a fictional character Microsoft created as part of an effort to humanize Windows 8 and to put the "personal" back into personal computers."

Well, since REAL people cant use it, it's the logical choice for advertising a product REAL people don't want and didn't ask for

So a 3 year old isn't a "real" person?

Fictional Characters created by you may seem real to YOU, but...

User experience may change, depending on psychosis

Went to BB Saturday to check out an HP with a touch screen. The sales guy eagerly bounced to us to show what Win8 can do. Unfortunately about half way through his demo the machine 'FORGOT' how to read from the touch screen so he tried to fake us out and (thinking we wouldn't notice) switched to track pad and keyboard shorties until I kept asking what happened to touch. Haha, he said it was the first time it had done that and he needed to reboot. Maybe it was the HP itself I can't say for sure. The build quality seemed a little subpar since the screen seemed to flop around when trying to navigate but for whatever reason, it was not a good first showing for me and touch.

Is she hot?

I would hope that 'soft is spearheading this campaign. It's their product!

Honestly, that's the first thing that came to my mind as well.
