Microsoft Says Windows Server 2008 R2 is Alive
A ZDNet blogger, Mary Jo Foley, had erroneously reported that Microsoft was skipping Windows Server 2008 Revision 2 and moving directly to server version of Windows 7. However, she has now corrected the error after Microsoft clarified that the Windows Server 2008 R2 is alive and will only be a minor update. It is speculated that Windows 7 Server will follow a year or two later after the minor revision. Let us wait for Microsoft to lucidly spell out its release plans.

This is Microsoft's biggest mistake since Windows XP Home Edition. Why release a 64 bit only operating system when half of our servers don't even SUPPORT 64 Bit!?!?! This is really stupid of Microsoft to make and they should release a 32 bit Windows Server 2008 R2 and not move on to 64 bit, ESPECIALLY for servers.

It kind of concerns me that MS is evidently a little foggy about communicating their server roadmap. It doesn't necessarily indicate that they're as unclear about it internally, though if that is indeed the case it's *really* something to worry about. At least if you like the Windows Server line. If you use other server OS's I guess it doesn't bug you in the least. :D
