Now may I have back my free-sorting ability? Seriously, if I didn't love Manga and Illuststudio so much I'd move to Linux in a day.

For that matter, is 8 even necessary? Why not just put all this in Service Pack 2? Even XP didn't become good until SP2 arrived, then it became what many consider the perfect OS (Pre-7).

Congrats to MS for catching up to where Ubuntu Linux has been since at least 2008.

Now, if they could implement virtual desktops, and a menu structure that's more refined than dumping all programs into one giant list titled "all programs", maybe we'd be onto something.

A print screen capture tool would be nice, Linux has only had that for about 3 or 4 years, give or take.

Oh yeah, and how about we make it so that during a move it doesn't delete files until the whole move is complete, leaving you with some files here, and only some files there, leaving you to clean up the mess when it fails. :P

I agree that Linux is the overall better OS, but it quite honestly sucks that some software/libs only have precompiled binaries for certain OSs. It constantly forces me to switch between Windows and Linux distros.

Hopefully, with some Xen libs now packaged with the mainstream kernel, I can finally set up fast virtualization without a mess of compiler errors.

Just buy Directory Opus instead. Be a cold day in hell before MS catches up with that great piece of software (expensive though).

I agree with two of the above statements.

Why can't they just put all this into an update for windows 7?

I also hope they will have the uninstaller fully unistall stuff.

If I were them I'd just acquire REVO. Have those guys put their work into it and offer Pro as the standard. Give 'em all nice paycheques for doing a service for everybody.

They really should make it a little more customizable.  Microsoft needs to realize that people like customization; particularly power users (read: Maximum PC readers).  What if I like having two separate windows?  What if I don't want a progress bar?  What if I want my bar to be blue, I want it to show percentages complete and remaining, and I want prioritize multiple large copies by dragging them in the window?  That's what I call customization, and in an age where even the average PC user hungers for something more, I think it's about time we get it.

i wish they just got rid of the progress bar, and kept the percentage.

Really? They have to roll out an entirely new OS to implement this!? Why can't this and other annoyances that have been lingering since Windows 3.1 be rolled out on patch Tuesday? Is Microsoft that hard up for money that a new OS version has to be released to fix a few things and not include other fixes. Really?

Now lets hope with this improvement, they also work on the deletion of files and the removal of programs. Cause even if 7 I am finding stray folders or files after I had uninstalled a program.

Indeed.  I got quite a shock the first time I used an uninstaller utility instead of the built-in Windows uninstaller.  Nothing like getting rid of the 10,000 files, folders, and registry entries the default installer left behind.

thank god. I lost faith in teracopy's ability since I've found it crashes ALOT.

Trying to copy 10+GB of data with teracopy only to find it "hangs" and corrupts the stuff you're trying to copy....doesn't sit well with me.

I rarely if ever copy anything over 5 GB. if its over 25 files or over 2-3 gb i usually use teracopy. lot less stable if it is registerd copy handeler in win 7 on my computer

I transfer alot of stuff around from my 500GB WD external to my 2TB external(Playstation 3 HDD backups for example). Teracopy trips all over itself and doesn't know what to do when trying to copy that much data.

I'll copy files from my PC to my HTPC over my Gigabit LAN using TeraCopy regularily. Sometimes in excess of 600GB at a time, it might have a hiccup once in a while, but I've not had any issues.

TerribleToaster

I retract everything bad I have said about Win8. I will buy several copies.

Nice.  It looks like they rolled TeraCopy right into the OS.  Well done.
