Microsoft, HP "Slate PC" Is Not the Courier Tablet You've Been Waiting For

If anything, the tablet dampened hopes of Microsoft setting the bar quite high for Apple's rumored tablet by unveiling a truly revolutionary slate of its own at CES2010. Being a Windows 7-powered tablet, it was anything but avant-garde.
A lot of people thought – or actually hoped - that Microsoft would unveil something based on its Courier tablet prototype, but it wasn't to be. All said, not a lot is known is about the HP tablet and the version of Windows 7 that it runs.

My 2 cents.
Microsoft doesn't have the luxury of introducing a premium product, with the associated high costs and potential bugs, that Apple can. Apple can put out a tablet with all kinds of problems, charge over a $1000 for it, and people will buy it. If Microsoft produces a product, price is a very important factor, as is compatibility, so they can't get too original. They don't have the same "designer label" niche status that Apple has, which allows Apple more freedom to be original and define the market. This is more about perception than reality.

I will have to agree with you on that one, but one thing to consider is even if Microsoft put out an exact product that was bug free(only in our dreams) people would still find something to complain about it and in the end would turn out to be a failure of a product because some dumb @SS of a reviewer gave it a bad review for some little to nothing problem that most people would probably never use.
