First, something about the article. Windows has been on tablet formfactor PCs for years. I think in a 2005 issue of MPC itself, there was an ad for a tablet PC with Windows XP. Microsoft has always had its OS on tablets, but those never took off (probably because they weren't like an iPad, I guess form over function rules). So I think when smartphones took off, Microsoft decided they needed to find another architecture to put Windows on, because the portable market wasn't going to embrace x86 any time soon.

Now on to the commentators. Anyone who says "Windows 8 is going to be the next Vista" is a complete idiot. You're going to ditch an OS over UI changes. Really. Vista was a massive update to the kernel and underlying OS. And things broke. Windows 8 is just NT 6.1 with a new UI.

If you're going to whine and moan over UI changes, which I think Microsoft has done good on (like all those explorer tweaks), fine. Stick with Windows 7. Nobody's putting a gun to your head and saying "buy Windows 8". But if this is where Microsoft is going to go, then either pony up for the business version (since I have a feeling MS isn't going to tell them to use the new UI) or go Linux. Or you can just stick with a dinosaur by the time Windows 9 or whatever comes out. Your choice.

Careful examination of the EXIF data also shows that WW2 began in 3615 B.C.

Hey.That_Dude

Well, that's just dandy isn't it?
WoA can't be installed by the average Joe so WHY THE F*CK DON'T YOU HAVE TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS!
IDK about tablets, but I'd like that new storage system in Server8 for my multi-terabyte system. bah! whatever.

this disgusts me it only confirms the fact that M$ is trying to get a quick buck out with win8, the worst part is that most of the useful changes and additions could have been rolled into a service pack for win7 yet another reason that im sticking to win7 and slowly moving over to Ubuntu

Not sure how you read MS is trying to make a fast buck into this article. How the heck could they make it a service pack?

Move to Ubuntu quickly, I don't think any one really cares..................
