Microsoft Fourth-Quarter Results Worse than Expected

comment Commentsprint Printemail EmailDeliciousDiggStumbleUponRedditFacebookSlashdot

Wall Street savants seem to have been deceived by their crystal balls yet again. Microsoft’s fiscal fourth quarter results turned out be even lower than what they had predicted. Microsoft reported earning $3.05 billion, or 34 per share, on revenue of $13.1 billion in the quarter.

The company was quick to blame the weakness in “the global PC and server markets” for the decline in revenue. But Microsoft CFO Chris Liddell is pleased that the company managed to “deliver over $750 million of operational savings compared to the prior year quarter” despite the economic weather being a huge impediment. Microsoft also imputed the decline to “a $276 million deferral for the Windows 7 Upgrade Option program”.

avatarim not a Windows or an Apple

im not a Windows or an Apple fan boy. (warning given in advance) i love both companies the same. different ways of managing resources. but i do think you people are quite wrong. in the business world, may it be millions, billions or trillions, it doesn't matter. it's the ratios that matter. that billions you're talking about, if your an investor, won't go to you in full. it will be divided among the stockholders. the thing that an investor is looking for isn't the face value. so what if you earned 1 million but your investment was a billion (exaggerating)? i think its better to earn a thousand for a thousand investment.

all i'm saying is, please refrain from making those statements again. you'll just give the other side a chance to retaliate.

and one more thing, how would you expect this Windows-Apple war to end when you retaliate to each stupid statement? revenge will bring only more revenge. get it? we should even be thankful that there is competition. competition forces the competitors to improve their products. and i think, and i am sure many will agree, it will benefit us all. a product with no competitor will stay as is for it will think "you can't do anything no matter how i price myself. you need me. and you don't have a choice."

please. just be open-minded and accept the facts. don't retaliate unless it brings too much harm.

I love when you look at the MAC fan by blogs about stuff like this.
They really dwell on MS's profits be less but won't mention it still 3 Billion.
Then say how Apple's profits are better this quater even tho it's only in the millions.

It's all how you word it I guess, but I'd take the 3 billion anyday.....8)
