It as though instead of learning the stove is hot Microsoft decides it because they are not pushing their hand down hard enough.

Pretty much. I thought the main complaint was that if you wanted Media Center you had to buy Win 8 Pro, something most users who would use MC don't have a need for.

Plex, xmbc... I would possibly use media center if included with the OS, but with such great alternatives out there for free (that incidentally support more formats and are infinitely easier to customize), I'm not sure I would ever care to pay for media center.

The concept of removing it seems a very strange move, seeing as how they're upping their dolby support (something that would make me think they want to up the multimedia experience).

Perhaps this is a backwards way of prepping to phase it out so they can introduce something better later. Microsoft has a way of phasing things out, only to bring something else in it's place down the road. Seems kinda a$$backwards to me. Shouldn't they have the replacement ready to go first?
