Microsoft Demos Gaming Across the PC, Xbox 360, and Windows Phone 7
Microsoft's TechEd conference doesn't typically get a lot of news coverage around here given it's IT focus, but keynote presenter Eric Rudder was showing off some pretty interesting new Windows phone features which are worthy of note. During his presentation he was able to show off not just a cross platform game that worked across the Xbox 360, PC, and mobile phone, but also how he was able to keep all of his gaming sessions in perfect sync.
Its hard to imagine it will ever be much more than a gimmick when it comes to gaming, but it might have some interesting applications for everyday productivity tools as well. After all, finding a mechanic that works with a gamepad, mouse and keyboard, and even a touch screen is a bit of an unrealistic proposition. And before you ask, no, it won't play Crysis. One thing is clear; Microsoft is taking it's new phone platform very seriously, and is obviously hoping to use it as a hook in the future to help keep you in the MS ecosystem.
Hit the jump to check out the You Tube demonstration, and take careful note of how hard he had to try to say "Windows Phone Series". Yep, he forgot the 7! Guess even Microsoft can't remember its own broken English product names.

Too bad they don't play in action movies anymore. I think it's because they are getting older. I have been watching all their movies since I was a kid. They both really great in action movies. These guys are like my favorite actors ever. free business advertising

Generally speaking, whenever I see a post start with "nutcracking snack", I know the rest will make as much sense as starting posts off with that nonsense, so I just skip it. You might want to start ignoring that guys posts as well, you will sleep better at night.

This is nothing new. You could already do this with the PC, Xbox, and Zune HD. They are are just using XNA and porting it to all the platforms. The game that is being shown is just the sample off the XNA website and it has been compiled for the phone. People have been writing XNA game for the Xbox and Zune for a while and since the Windows Phone 7 is pretty much just the Zune software there is nothing really new here at all.

It isn't about playing mario or donkey kong on your phone, xbox or pc, it is about the potential this brings to game/app developers.
For Example:
MMO's can not port their less graphic intensive features, like crafting and harvesting to the phone so when the user gets home on their pc or xbox, the not so fun but necessary ingame tasks are finished via mobile device...
This is a great concept b/c this will not only work for games, but for office and other programs/apps as well.
MS is creating unity of content through all their devices and this is a great step in my opinion.

why are people going backward these days ? this is 2010 !! handheld gamings with 320x200 + monoaural sound like pacman, mario brothers, tetris were the "IN" over 2 decades ago. We should be heading the other way around .. we should be playing our fav games on 100" LCD screen @1080p complete with 1000 watts of 7.1 speaker system !
who in the world would wanna play mario brothers or doom 1 on handhelds ? its 2010, wake up !! let go of the 80s games !
plus, starring at miniature screen is NOT HEALTHY ! if you're on the bus, or plane, why bother playing with those when you can just close your eyes and listen to your mp3 players ?

I guess people care about "gaming" on their phone. As for me, I couldn't care less. A couple of time killers that I can play and drop at a moment's notice while standing in a long line and I am happy. Solitare, Teeter on my Touch Pro, maybe even Chess, which I am monumentally horrible at.
Another thing I don't get is people wanting to watch videos on their phone. Those screens are tiny, I would rather wait until I get home and watch them on a normal sized TV.
As long as the phone... makes and receives calls and syncs my contacts and calendar I am happy.

I see no problem having them refer to the mobile platform as a "windows phone series" phone. I would assume it was new and tend to think of that as a different line when compared to a windows mobile phone.
...Of course that is if they are releasing newer versions of the mobile operating system as "windows phone (x.xx)"
Even though the capability looks great,i couldn't help to notice that the actual obsticles on the windows phone platform and the xbox platform were different despite the claim of starting on the same level. Not the resolution mind you, but the jumping blocks. From the windows mobile phone (the layout at about 49 seconds) to the long bar, then from the xbox to the "helper" box to the long bar. (seen jumping onto it at about 1:11) I have to wonder if there was "tweaking" of startpoints through each platform instead of them actually sharing the same level.
