Doc, you're coming close to causing me to lose all respect for you. I've seen some intelligent comments and posts from you. This one however, makes me think you didn't actually read my post. But whatever. For your information, I do use linux. Albeit for the singular purpose of running my SQL server. Every other computer I have is running Windows. And again, when linux can run my other applications as well as my games with the same and/or better performance and results as I get under Windows, including Windows 8, then I'll see it as a viable replacement for my main personal system. I actually try about once every year or so just to see, and so far it's been a no go. To each their own. If it works for you, great, but don't hate on an OS you don't use just because it's the in thing to do. And leave the name calling to those far beneath you, like Silencer. Seriously, you know you're better than that.

I don't hate MS or Windows. But I would like to see the near monopoly end. And Metro is just ugly enough that it could happen.

"When Linux can run my software and games the way I want them to run, and run just as well as they do under Windows, maybe then I'll consider Linux a viable operating system."

Maybe your great grandchildren will have that honour.

Spin it. Spin it hard.

Does anyone else laugh when reading the MBA buzzword-riddled bullshit these ass clowns spew? Really, who the fuck talks like this, aside from song-and-dance pricks trying to snow their board members?

these are most likely Microsoft's direct sales to distributors the question is how many are active. most of those are probably still sitting on a shelf in a store.

Hmm. 60 million?

I'm sorry...but 60 million copies of Windows 8? Either that number is the fakest number ever, or the number isn't fake. If by some miracle for them the number isn't fake, then I have to wonder how many of those were returned, probably about half. Of course, I know nothing regarding this, so lol.

I think all of this negative publicity coming from OEMs isn't because windows 8 isn't selling well, it's because they're pissed off at MS for creating the surface...

I find it interesting that the only good reports about Windows 8 sales come from Microsoft. All the reports from retailers and manufacturers paint a very different reality.

Hilarity

Windows 8 is fine. Running it on 2 modern Ivy Bridge systems - one gaming, one work. No problems, everything just works. More than you can say for Linux. And yes, I've installed Start 8 on the work box but not the other one.

The hype is overblown. If you have a fresh modern SSD based system than 8 is for you. Otherwise fuck off and die with your Pentium 4.

The issue with 8 is not about things not working - it's about the shitty tablet UI getting in the way. And for the record, not everyone who's staying with Windows 7 has a Pentium 4. Not even close - I'm running a quad-core i5 here and will be sticking with 7 until Microsoft gets their head out of their ass and listens to people. (and I'll probably get an SSD at some point) Fuck off until you've taken your meds.

You would pay $5.00 for something that should have already been there? Lol...

Except for the "fuck off and die" part, I agree with your post.

I'm using Win8 with my 3630K system and it's better than Win7 ever was.

your post matches your user name perfectly

Uh-oh. You didn't say how awesome and easy to use Linux is. Prepare for the hate.
