In such event, Releasees shall have no liability to any participant who is disqualified due to such an action. Is what supercourier saying true? If the CEO's wife won, then I smell a lawsuit coming. Someone from MaximumPC.com needs to clarify.

How did the CEO's wife manage to win under her maiden name? And why did I have to invoke the Freedom of Information Act via U.S. Postal Service rather than having it posted online? Is the clarity of this contest inversely proportional to iBuypower's BBB rating? Just wondering...

That's, uh, not really how the FOIA works. And we haven't announced the winner yet. But even if the CEO's wife entered, she wouldn't be eligible to win, thanks to this nifty clause in the contest rules:
"Employees of Sponsors, their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliated companies, and agents, and foregoing employees’ household or immediate family members (defined as parent, spouse, child, sibling, or grandparent) are NOT eligible to enter Contest. "
That means nobody associated with Future US or any of its employees, nor iBuyPower or any of its employees, is eligible.

Funny how you state the rules because they also state:
HOW TO ENTER: Email us at contests@maximumpc.com, putting “iBUYPOWER Gaming PC Contest” in the subject line and including your complete name, address, daytime telephone number, city, state, and zip code in the body
Which according to one of your online editors, is false. So why should we believe what the rules say?

I'm sure it was a clerical oversight, or perhaps the fault of a system miscommunication or some such...
Just the same, you can mail the PC to......
What? You can't blame me for trying :D

Walked my mom through it because we don't have the cash to get off our Pentium D 945, 1GB DDR 400, and GeForce 6600LE. Would simply do the email entry, but unclear as to whether it is an accepted form of entry. :(

Maybe my mom's use of twitter will help bring it down, or she'll use it to take notes...

It has been clarified.. or has it? Here's the quote from Alex Castle, associate online editor for MaximumPC:
"Whoops! Sorry about that! This contest is for Twitter only, and the rules have been clarified..."
But if you read the rules, it clearly states the following:
HOW TO ENTER: Email us at contests@maximumpc.com, putting “iBUYPOWER Gaming PC Contest” in the subject line and including your complete name, address, daytime telephone number, city, state, and zip code in the body
So apparently, the rules have not been clarified. Then again, the rules also state this:
10. CONDITIONS: Participants agree that by participating they release the Releasees from any liability in connection with: a) Entries that are ineligible as a result of being lost, late, illegible, damaged, incomplete, stolen, postage due, or misdirected: b) Any typographical or other human or technical errors in the offer or administration of the Contest, including but not limited to errors in advertising, these official rules
So technically, the part about e-mailing entries could be a technical error and it doesn't mean anything. Under these conditions, they are not responsible to change it either.
With all that said, I find this situation ironic. Considering how strict and legal the rules are, you would think Maximum PC would be responsible enough to clarify the rules. Hey mister online editor, perhaps do your job?
This is just my 2 cents.. I don't have anything against twitter, MaxPC or this contest. I'm just hoping to get some clarification here because it seems like some people are still confused.

Phone#:
City/State/Zip:

I hope an actual MaximumPC fan wins this. I recall seeing your last PC giveaway constest being announced at other website forums. As a MaximumPC magazine subscriber and website viewer I felt us fans were getting screwed on our chance of winning. You need to find a way to block the posers.
