I have been using Mandriva off and on since it was formerly known as Mandrake, and I was not pleased with the hardware support in earlier versions.  Invariably, I always had to use ndiswrapper to get my wireless card to work at all ...

However, Mandriva 2009 worked rather well until they released an update that totally trashed everything, and now it won't boot up.

I am willing to give the 2010 version a shot,  but I am growing weary of reinstalling and reconfiguring the OS whenever a new update is introduced or a new package is installed with improper dependencies.

Linux is still not quite ready for prime time, in my opinion.

ive been using Mandriva 2009 for a while now and i like it. I have even gone and downloaded the standard "Terminal" window rather than use Konsole, and gotten gedit so i can have all the tools i like on Ubuntu on Mandriva. It has a much easier and better wireless setup too...mine was configured right after setup and it works great. (It is a WUSB300N which is known to have problems on other distros). My only complaint is I cannot seem to get sound to work properly on 2009. I might give 2010 a shot and see if it fixes that issue. Over all great distro

In spite of the new Unbuntu problems it's a great distro. I use it often. How does Mandriva compare? Never used this one.
