Membrane keyboards don't hold a candle to their mechanical-based brethren, they just don't. Mechanical key switches offer far superior click action, and thanks to the variety of switches out there, fans of mechanical planks have their choice of loud and obnoxious keyboards, quiet performers, or something in between. Logitech's newly announced G710+ is of the low-noise variety, with a twist.
Logitech says the non-clicking key switches have a built-in dampening ring underneath each keycap to significantly reduce noise without sacrificing responsiveness. What that insinuates is that you should be able to game late at night and into the wee hours of the morning without waking everyone in your home (unless you bang your fist against your desk in frustration, then all bets are off).
Actuation force is rated at 45g and distance at 4mm, which Logitech says is just right for rapid command entry. As for durability, mechanical planks are typically sturdier and more reliable than membrane-based keyboards, and in this case, Logitech says the G710+ has undergone a torturous testing process with a rated lifecycle of 50 million keystrokes.
The G710+ is a backlit plank with white LEDs, which you can adjust to one of four brightness levels (or turn off completely). Additionally, you can adjust the brightness of the WASD and arrow keys independently from the rest of the keyboard. There are also dedicated macro keys to play with.
Look for the G710+ to be available in December for $150 MSRP.

It's also the size of a compact car. I don't have space for that monstrosity. Now, the G13 Gameboard... that's a keeper. Throw in a G700 mouse and an Attack 3 joystick, and you've got all of the high quality, small footprint gaming gear you're every likely to need.

Doesn't seem like something really that revolutionary or unique to warrant a $150 price tag really. I can get something just as good (from my opinion) from Roccat for half the price.
Sorry Logitech, missing the mark on another one in my book.

The price tag is horrible and the keyboard is horrible imo, but Logitech missing the mark? That is wrong on so many aspects, Roccat doesn't even have one mechanical keyboard and they aren't planning on making one, I think Roccat is the one missing the mark. Anyway, both of these companies produce shitty products marketed as "gamer". I'd rather have a Filco/Ducky/Rosewill keyboard with custom PBT keycaps than a cheap keyboard with useless backlighting/membrane keys/useless macro keys etc.
