Logitech Launches Funky Cube Mouse, Full HD Webcam

Logitech is jumping aboard the pre-CES train with a couple of announcements of its own that just couldn't wait until the convention officially kicks off next week. One of the peripheral maker's new reveals is the Logitech Cube, a rectangular rodent you could say was conceived by thinking outside (figuratively) and inside (literally) the box. The second product is a Full HD webcam with support for 1080p video calling.

Let's begin with the Cube. Logitech describes it as a "unique design that re-imagines what a mouse can be," so long as you imagine using your mouse as a presentation device. As a mouse, the Logitech Cube scrolls when you swipe your finger along the main panel. To use it as a presenter, simply lift it in the air, wait a few moments, and start clicking through your slides. If you need to transform it back into a mouse, simply flip it over in your hand and click again. Funky fresh.

The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 is a more traditional device without any weird tricks up its sleeve, though it is capable of capturing Full HD 1080p video.

"People are increasingly relying on video calling to maintain far flung connections," said Todd Walker, brand manager at Logitech. "Whether chatting with friends, family or co-workers, they want to be seen at their best through a sharp, high-quality image. The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 can provide just that as the first webcam to offer 1080p video calling, thanks to our collaboration with Skype."

Using Logitech's Fluid Crystal technology, the peripheral maker promises smooth video motion, sharper pictures, richer colors, and clearer sound. The C920 also sports Carl Zeiss optics and a premium 20-step autofocus.

The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 and Logitech Cube will both be avialble in the U.S. and Europe later this month for $100 and $70, respectively.
