The thing all of these OEMs trying to sell $1000+ PCs don't seem to understand is that Apple customers are not knowledgeable about computer hardware, they buy Apple products because they have an Apple logo on them and they're overall solid and reliable products. Because of this Apple is able to sell $700-$800 worth of hardware for $1200. Nobody other than Apple is going to be able to sell $800 hardware for $1200.

So by all means Lenovo, make a push into the high-end market, just realize that you're not going to be able to sell MacBook grade hardware at MacBook prices. If you want to sell a $1200-$2000 PC, it's going to have to offer a measurable performance increase over a comparably priced Mac. And it's going to have to at least match the Mac in terms of engineering, aesthetics, usability, and reliability.

Apple's profit margins are an anomaly, you can't compete with them at their own game, so don't try.

Yes because splitting the company that is going to work, "Think" is still stuck with the turd that is Windows 8.

Honestly the hardware to compete already exists in the Ultra book, asus zenbook, what separates them is the operation system, and Mac has a better reputation and better eco system.

There is a rumor in Chinese media that Lenovo will lose the right to the ThinkPad trademark in 2015. This split does add more fuel to the rumor.

I do not see the validity of that rumor as IBM owns 20% of Lenovo.

Wait, how is a 1000 dollar Mac a high end computer?
